Games/apps for a six yr old

Looking for suggestions of some games/apps for my son’s tablet. He’s six. He got access to a first proper game recently (that all his school friends were playing) but I’ve had to restrict it as it was causing so many problems (it was an addictive type one where each time you play you earn points and coins and can’t progress to the next level without earning a certain amount, it was causing huge upset). We’ve got long car journeys coming up. So far he’s liked a scrabble type thing called wordmaster, hangman and a mazes app. What do your 6-7 year olds like to play?

My dd's love Roblox, the boys in her class seem to play Minecraft more

Try looking on the app store and asking around.

Don’t think my son has come across mine craft yet! Or roblox. He’s quite innocent in some ways.

May not be the answer you want, but I had lots of problems with the content in free apps when DS was 6. Fed up of popular free apps such as Angry Birds then showing age inappropriate adverts.

I've ended up buying him a Switch as I feel a lot more comfortable with the content in the games. Very child friendly and in most cases they aren't always trying to upsell you with coins etc.

In the meantime, if he's quite innocent there are a variety of Lego games that he might like and they're free.

Thanks I’ll check out Lego. I just want to avoid anything where you have to collect coins or points in order to progress to another level as it’s v addictive and he’s not mature enough to handle it.

Although he's 6, the various Cbeebies apps may be good too. All good games with no gamification at all.

Dd liked...
Things they used at school
Times table rock stars
Mathletics
Bug club (reading)
And because they used them at school, they have the full versions and their own log in.
She also liked silly/funny games like talking tom.
And plants v zombies.
Yes, on Pvz you have to work your way through levels, but I have never had to buy anything with real money.
It helps with planning/strategy.
Maths. Reading.
And something like slither.io
Variation on the old Nokia snake game.

All the toca boca apps are good. My dc particularly liked the haunted house one.
