Your "normal" voice or your "real voice"?

Listened to a video that I was on,talking to my dog and i wasn't impressed!
I want the voice I think I haveGrin

Yes! My actual voice is ridiculously low (I’m female). In my head I sound feminine. Nope!

FogHornInTheAttic · 22/07/2021 08:47

I have the opposite issue! I sound higher pitched

When I hear myself talking or hear my voice in my head it doesn’t bother me, but when I hear my voice played back on a recording I cringe myself inside out!

JaninaDuszejko · 22/07/2021 08:55

I din't mind my 'real' voice because I sound exactly like my sister and my Mum. In fact, in the old days before smart phones, if I remembered I had to do something at home when at work I'd call home and leave a message for myself on the answer phone. But I'd have to say 'hello Janina, it's Janina' which always made my officemates laugh but if I didn't when I got home and heard the message I would think it was my sister.

@Janina 🤣

My actual voice is quite private school- it makes me cringe

DancesWithTortoises · 22/07/2021 09:20

My voice is one of the few thigs I like about myself. It's quite low for a woman and can be a bit croaky.

KnottyKnitting · 22/07/2021 09:28

I absolutely loathe with a passion my real voice. In my head it seems much lower and sultry sounding. In real life it high and whiny. I avoid hearing it at all costs becoming mute if a person has a video camera out.

I feel so sorry for people who have to listen to it.

Phyllis321 · 22/07/2021 09:32

I sound breathy and hesitant, which as a fairly bolshy middle-aged woman annoys me.

LubaLuca · 22/07/2021 09:35

I like my voice, it's a bit deeper than average. People are often disappointed by the reality of me when they first meet me after having only spoken on the phone Grin

SheABitSpicyToday · 22/07/2021 09:38

People on the phone ask me if my mummy is there. That’s what my voice sounds like Grin

Arsebucket · 22/07/2021 09:43

I sound like Barbara Windsor on recordings. Even the giggle (which is always fake when I’ve been taking to someone I can’t stand or doing something I don’t want to be and I’m trying to mask like hell).

It makes me want to punch myself.

CornedBeef451 · 22/07/2021 09:44

@JaninaDuszejko I've done that too! I left a message on our answer phone for DH, forgot about it and then when I listened back I thought it was a really odd message from my sister!

GunsNShips · 22/07/2021 10:10

My real voice is so much more common than the one I hear. I hate it!
