I love it. I regularly make a big one and then eat it over a few days. Often with a blob of cherry jam, heaven.

Classica · 22/07/2021 18:38

Love it. The only think I've ever used my slow cooker for!

Popcornbetty · 22/07/2021 18:39

My toddler loves it, keep meaning to make it homemade. I'm not a fan of warm milky stuff in general so have to be in the mood for it. It's nice with alittle carnation milk poured on top.

MissyB1 · 22/07/2021 18:42

Its the food of Gods and I love it. I also love semolina pudding.

WarmSausageTea · 22/07/2021 18:43

I’m not a fan, nor of risotto, which always seems like a lot of effort for very little reward.

KarlMaldensNose · 22/07/2021 18:49

It’s a lifesaver when you have a dental abscess to be honest….even the tinned stuff or muller rice in cartons
Really nutritious and filling
Can have cold in summer and hot in winter
It’s lovely

Really don't like the taste or texture of tinned rice pudding - but love homemade. Done in saucepan rather than oven if short on time. Quite often throw in a few cardamoms and maybe some cinnamon and clove. Make it a bit runnier than usual to eat ice cold - lovely in this weather.

too far.

semolina is the devil's spunk.

@Pebbledashery

I've discovered a really delicious one called Rachel's rice pudding. It's just beautiful.
Is that the same as Rachel’s yoghurts ? Which are lovely as well, especially the Greek one with honey

Do agree with that and so much potential to go wrong and quite expensive to throw in bin when it does
gogohm · 22/07/2021 19:13

Kheer is my favourite, I buy packet stuff though, delicious chilled

MissyB1 · 22/07/2021 19:51

semolina is the devils spunk

Yes and and your problem is? Grin

Pebbledashery · 22/07/2021 19:52

Yes, risotto is far too much effort. I just love the taste of rice pudding.

A good semolina pudding is the best thing ever. With some roasted apricots.

Portuguese version is lush! Love a rice pudding....I think I had one most days of my pregnancy...best craving ever! Bear

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 22/07/2021 20:34

i love it too

made with evap or coconut milk, or just milk . ALWAYS lots of butter round the dish and nutmeg grated in
Sometimes with muscovado sugar instead of normal

I have made it in the oven, and slowpot and now in my instant pot. I prefer it done in the oven, but other ways are fine.

also I |do like tinned rice pudding, but only out of the tin, cold, student stylee.

I also adore tapioca, which is very weird cos I won't eat a tomato or anything else slippery and bitty, but tapioca and sago are amazing.

Can you even buy sago anymore?? Or is it just old fashioned talk for tapioca?

ToffeeNotCoffee · 22/07/2021 20:35

*Rice pudding and tinned prunes! ❤️

1970s School dinner favourite*

Oh how the ghost of you clings.........

My Dad used to make a great rice pudding. He baked it in the oven with butter and nutmeg on top to form a lovely skin.

There was a scene in Friday Night Dinner where their aunt made rice pudding instead of apple crumble. They were disappointed, to say the least !

It gave me a rice pudding craving like you would not believe !

Peakypolly · 22/07/2021 20:40

My FIL and I bonded over my homemade rice pudding. MIL is not a fan and consequently FIL reckoned he hadn't had it for 30 years.

hiredandsqueak · 22/07/2021 20:40

I love it. I make the one on the BBC good food site. I like lots of nutmeg on mine and raspberry jam.

BarbaraofSeville · 22/07/2021 20:58

I like it and will be taking notes of all the variations from around the world mentioned on this thread.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 22/07/2021 21:12

Rice pudding is best with a dusting of cinnamon sugar.

Pebbledashery · 22/07/2021 21:15

I'm going to stock up on it at the weekend 😊
