Housing association. How long between offer and moving in.

I've been shortlisted for a property I bid for from a housing association. Its a transfer from the same housing association. I made the bid mid June and they called me at the end of June. After chasing up the situation I was told they need to inspect my house but I have not heard anything since. I haven't even been given a chance to view yet. Has anyone had a similar experience of it taking so long to even view let alone move in to a housing association property?

When we moved from one HA house to another, it was all done and dusted within ten days from us viewing the house.

Hello PaperMonster, how long was it for you between getting notified you had been shortlisted and viewing? Its been nearly a month for us and we still have not been invited to view

Well, both families who were supposed to view the house failed to do so and we were approached by the HA as we’d expressed an interest in buying a 3 bed when they were trying to sell them. They had no-one else interested and they had a couple looking for a two bed. So we weren’t actually shortlisted as we hadn’t applied for a bigger house. But generally they don’t like to have empty houses for too long as they’re losing money on them. Sorry, I’m probably not much help!

We have a huge backlog at the moment with getting our empty properties ready for relet. This is because we are struggling with getting materials and constant isolation cycles of the maintenance staff. We are also not allowing viewings until the property is ready to let so that there aren't different groups of people in the property spreading germs. This might mean that the gap between the viewing and the sign up might be very short so be prepared! Some of our properties are taking a few months as we are prioritising the ones earmarked for homeless people etc.
If your current housing situation is urgent, please contact the HA to say so but don't worry, everything is extremely slow at the moment.

Thanks @sluj that makes sense and has put my mind at ease. @PaperMonster thank you again. Its good to know it will be pretty quick once we do finally view.
