Head Massage

So, every time i go to the hairdresser, I am given a head massage whilst they put the conditioner on my hair.

Instead of relaxing and enjoying it, I spend most of the time worrying about what reaction I should have. Am I meant to make an encouraging noise? Smile? Surely I should make some sort of reaction.

For the past 30 years or so, I make no acknowledgement of it at all.

What do you do?

I just close my eyes and then say 'that was lovely' when they've finished!
Really, I want to say ' can you do that for another 3 hours please?!' 😴😴😴

My usual place stopped doing them ‘because covid’ Hmm

I went to a random hairdresser because I was in another part of the country. She said ‘I will now do the head message’ and I thought oh wonderful! But she did a series of pats with a grand big pat and then swept her hand across my forehead. It was very weird. She then said ‘are you relaxed?’ ‘No’ I said.
She said ‘great, come this way please!’ Confused

No, don't make encouraging noises, it's not sex! Grin Just lie there with your eyes shut and enjoy it.

Where I live (Asia) there's a culture of hair spas. You can't get a cut there - they spend an hour giving you a hair wash and a hair treatment with endless shoulder massages and head massages. The really nice ones do the whole thing in a softly-lit room with candles and warm towels and wafting essential oils under your nose at the start, like you've gone for a proper spa massage. I prefer them to regular massages because you don't have to lie on your front.

Eugh, I hate this! Worst one was when I had a Saturday girl with talons washing my hair. When she did the massage, it was with a sort of scratching, gouging motion. I might have had to ask her to stop 😱
I've also had a 19 year-old lad do it which I just found a bit embarrassing as a woman in her 50s!
