Hayward's Heath area time to kill.

Hi! Next week I've unexpectedly found myself and ds (8) with several hours to waste in the Hayward's Heath area. We'll have a car but don't really want to drive more than half an hour in any direction.
Oh and rain's forecast.
Can anybody suggest and hidden gems? Thank you!

If you hadn't mentoned rain, I'd have suggested Nymans Gardens.www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g504221-d2641575-Reviews-Nymans_Gardens_and_House-Haywards_Heath_West_Sussex_England.html

They look gorgeous though, thanks for that!

Kayjay2018 · 21/07/2021 19:01

@Tiddleztheelephant there is a sealife centre in Brighton and an indoor crazy golf in Brighton too

A couple of years ago, we were flying from Gatwick but had several hours free. We don’t live that way now but lived in HH years ago, so know the area and ended up going there. My children were a similar age and loved going to Victoria Park in HH and the splash pool, etc, and we had a meal in the Cafe Rouge there with Tesco vouchers - not much help if it’s raining but the weather could turn out nice and you won’t have committed to tickets if it rains. If it does rain, there’s an indoor swimming pool in HH, so maybe that and food somewhere, or the cinema in Burgess Hill. I can’t be much more help, sorry, as we lived there pre-children - although if you are up for driving a bit further out, we have also been to Drusillas (again with Tesco vouchers 😀) in similar circumstances.

The Triangle in Burgess Hill - pool and fun swim area/slides.

Wakehurst Place, is lovely, lots to do. Hayward’s Heath has quite a nice town, coffee shops etc.

Tiddleztheelephant · 21/07/2021 20:07

This is brilliant, I'm off to Google them all now!

I don't mind it but I suspect my 8 year old might object Grin

Another suggestionest for the Bluebell Railway if rain is forecast.

Indigopearl · 21/07/2021 20:49

Hever Castle is well worth a visit.

ginandgingers92 · 21/07/2021 22:23

If the weather holds off, leonardslee has peacocks roaming around. Made for some interesting roadkill on the A27 a month or so ago ...
