Inspiration please - where can I go away?

So, I was supposed to go back home and see my parents n France but... yay Covid and the stupid government rules have probably put an end to that.

I want to go away in the UK instead but a bit at loss so to where to go.
I have some mobility issues (can't walk far or fast) so I am looking for somewhere easy to walk with possible easy breaks (eg a cafe) at regular intervals.
It could be a town centre, museum, garden ... whatever idea you have! I'm not bothered as to what it is. I just need a real change of scenery to take my mind off not seeing my parents.

So hit me with your ideas!

Where are you based and what is your budget - how long are you going for?

I’m in the NE so Cornwall would be too far but bristol would be ok still.

I’m thinking a week away but I now have 3 weeks with nothing planned so there is a lot of flexibility there.

Edinburgh.

Plenty to do and easy to get to on the train.

You can do day trips round about (incl Glasgow).

London? Lots to see, good transport options, lots of cafes.

Edinburgh is a good idea. Never thought about day trip to Glasgow from there.

LOndon… I’m not so sure.

Cambridge? Undergrads will have gone home, plenty of cafés, great mix of lovely architecture, green spaces and museums.

You could do day trips from there to e.g. Ely (amazing cathedral) or have 4/5 days there and then move on to Norwich, or stay rurally and visit some of the NT or English Heritage properties (Ixworth House, Flatford, etc) in Suffolk and Norfolk.

Good idea! I’ve been to Oxford and really liked it.
It would be nice to see the difference between the two of them.
