To cut the lawn?

I cut the grass for my next door neighbour (elderly). It needs doing, and we head off on holidays on Thursday, so needs doing before we go.

It's been in the 30s all week, and looks to be the same tomorrow. I'm hoping to do it early to avoid the worst of the heat.

How early could I cut the lawn without becoming the target of hate and loathing?

Electric mower, so not crazy loud.
8am? 9?

8am would be fine by me.

HundredMilesAnHour · 20/07/2021 23:12

Depends on your neighbours and their lifestyles but I'd err on the side of caution and leave it until at least 9am.

Crunched · 20/07/2021 23:13

Well, no one could complain about 9am.

garlictwist · 20/07/2021 23:14

It's a weekday so people are up for work and school so I'd say any time from 7

StillRunningWithScissors · 20/07/2021 23:21

Most people in the area are working age (except neighbour, but it's her lawn being cut, so 😁)

I might aim for 8:30. Local primary will have the hoards arriving to park up on our road, so should be good.

Thanks all!

9am at the earliest.

AnnaSW1 · 20/07/2021 23:34

I agree with 9. Even though I'm up by 7

BackforGood · 20/07/2021 23:42

9am at the earliest to use any sort of power tools in a built up area.

BIWI · 20/07/2021 23:43

I agree. Not before 9.

HazyDaisy123456 · 20/07/2021 23:44

8am in the week is fine gets it over and done with.

My neighbours think nothing of cleaning umpteen cars on a weekend with a high pressure hose before 8am on a Saturday and Sunday.

OhToBeASeahorse · 21/07/2021 00:07

Oh come off it builders start work from 7.30!!

OP I'd say if u can wait til 8 that would be great but no later.

BackforGood · 21/07/2021 18:59

Oh come off it builders start work from 7.30!!

Not where I live they don't. I would be VERY unimpressed with that.

StillRunningWithScissors · 21/07/2021 22:48

Went with 8:30 in the end.

Builders a few doors up started at 8am, and the school run was in full swing (only cut the front lawn).

Thanks all
