Who uses it? Why?

@Classica

I use it because I was radicalised by the shadowy figures who control Big Detergent and now I'm in too deep to extricate myself. I like the orange scented one from Sainsbury's. Use it on all my laundry aside from towels.
Grin @Classica Same. I even sniff them in the supermarket and get excited when there’s a new one. No way out now, I’m in too deep.
LawnFever · 21/07/2021 08:09

But what I am confused about is the number of people on here who think it is completely unnecessary and that they are somehow smarter than the sheep who have been duped into using it.

Not sure what’s confusing really, my clothes/bedding aren’t crunchy etc it’s just not necessary, so why buy something that’s not useful - maybe it’s more noticeable if you live in a hard water area?

I just tried it and couldn’t tell any difference, except the smell that personally I don’t like.

LawnFever · 21/07/2021 08:10

@bigbluebus

I use it because we live in hard water area and our dried clothes would stand up on their own if I didn't use it.
Yeah I think that must make a big difference, when I used it it made no difference at all so we must be in a soft water area.
SaberToothKitten · 21/07/2021 08:10

DD2 likes the smell. Says if she feels sad in school that she can bury her nose in the crook of her arm and sniff her jumper, and that it smells of home. That’s me sold. I can’t actually smell our fabric conditioner once clothes are dry.

Sparklingbrook · 21/07/2021 08:11

@MaMelon

Spray or roll on deodorant. Who uses it? Why?
Spray. And I use fabric conditioner. I am a terrible person. BUT I iron everything Grin
MikeWozniaksGloriousTache · 21/07/2021 08:20

I used to use it. But I’ve stopped now. I visited my parents who often use it and couldn’t sleep on the bedding fit the sheer overwhelming fake smells it was awful. I had such an awful headache the next day.

I stopped mainly as I’m cheap and I read about how the build up in washing machines can ruin them.

However after reading more on it I’m glad I did. It coats clothing so can prevent static, creases etc but it builds up on your clothes. There’s some evidence to say it can cause your clothes to be more flammable. They contain chemicals linked to skin irritation, respiratory illness, cancers etc. Absolutely terrible for the environment. Some contain chemicals that are derived from animals so if you’re vegan they may not be vegan friendly.

Its personal though. If you use it on sports clothing you may want to stop as it can actively damage the clothing, sweat wicking properties etc.

You and me both off to hell. But at least it’ll smell nice 🌸
Chikapu · 21/07/2021 08:36

Never use it, I dislike how it makes things feel. Like there's a film of something slimy on them.

Sparklingbrook · 21/07/2021 08:38

If your washing comes out slimy then you’ve used too much. Shock

MaMelon · 21/07/2021 08:41

See you there - I’ll follow the smell of Fresh Breeze with Ylang Ylang and Moonflower WineSmile

2bazookas · 21/07/2021 08:48

I don't use it. Don't need to.

At the weekend we stayed at a nice Airbnb; rain shower, stepped out to large soft white towel..... aaaargh. Fatally abric conditioned to repel water...

Sparklingbrook · 21/07/2021 11:58

I've just got home form a hotel where they didn't use fabric conditioner on the towels. They smelled clean but were nice and rough, I never use it on towels.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/07/2021 12:20

I only use it on towels this time of year when they line dry and I forget to bring them inside before they turn to a stiff board.

I love a rough towel.

Orchidflower1 · 21/07/2021 14:24

Who works for Unilever, starts a thread and buggers off??

Oh yeah that’s @JennieLee

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sparklingbrook · 21/07/2021 14:32

An AS shows that @JennieLee has a lot of questions generally.

You could say Chanel perfume is a 'bullshit product', why do you need to add fake fragrance to an apparently clean person? Wink

JennieLee · 21/07/2021 20:02

Bizarrely, I asked because I wanted to know what other people thought and did. So thank you everyone.
