Cancelled a job interview, but they are chasing me to reschedule?

I had to complete a pre-interview assessment for a job. I then unfortunately had to cancel the interview as I was called into work. I have now had an email saying they are really hoping that I can reschedule the interview and they said my assessment stood out among all the other applicants.

Can I take this as a good sign? The new job would be a career move for me that feels quite an ambitious and daunting move and I have been suffering from a lack of confidence. I have even cancelled other upcoming interviews as I just felt like I wasn't good enough or ready to make this career move.

Go for it!
They clearly want to talk to you so they must think you are a worthwhile candidate. And if nothing else comes of it then you'll at least have gained some interview experience which is always a good thing.

Well they are clearly saying that they think you ARE good enough and you ARE ready for this career move!

This is a brilliant sign!! Go for it!!

You know what they say - women look at the requirements for a job as a "need to have" and don't apply if they don't match all of them. Men look at a job spec as a "nice to have" and apply even if they don't match any of them.

That sounds really positive, go for it!!

I have a university professor who I stayed in touch with as an alumni and he really pushed me to apply for jobs out of my comfort zone. The end conclusion of my discussions is that if you aren't terrified for at least the first 3 months of a new job you could have pushed yourself more and applied for something more senior/outside your comfort zone.

They clearly want to see you: an interview is for you as well as for them.

Go for it!
If you really want it, I’d recommend going to other interviews first as a practice.

Thank you all!

I decided to reschedule the interview, it's on Monday eek!

Good luck for tomorrow!! We're all cheering for you! Thanks

cancelit · 26/07/2021 12:23

@Xiaoxiong thank you!

I have done the interview now. I think it went ok, I think I was a little reserved though and should have been more confident. I should hear back within the next 2 days.

Yayyy congrats!!

Xiaoxiong · 27/07/2021 11:09

Congratulations!!!!! This should help with that lack of confidence quite nicely Grin you were basically headhunted for this job on the basis of how well you did in the assessment, YOU, no one else - and you got it! VERY WELL DESERVED.
