Leavers assemble!

Hands up if you have kid/s leaving their current school this year or maybe left last week.

How are you all feeling? sad? relieved? happy? and special last day events or rituals?

We have DS5 (y6) leaving tomorrow. they break up at the same time as infant school so DH will pick him (and DD) up and see him off.
The kids usually sign each others shirts on the last day which is such a lovely thing to do.
He had a prom yesterday and leaver's assembly today.

DS6 (y2) is also leaving tomorrow.
He had a leaver's assembly last week (very sweet) and today they have mufti & packed lunches (usually hot food) - he was excited about both.
Leaver's disco was cancelled but they have their own little party today so that's nice.

Him leaving means it's an end of an era - we've been going to the infant school for 16 years and I just can't believe we've almost finished!
I can't wrap my head around it!
We've all loved that school so will miss the amazing staff & HT. At the same time I can't wait never having to fight to traffic and stress about parking...1 day to go, hurrah! I'm definitely going to celebrate tomorrow!🤣🍾🥂

Yeah my son is, leaving his special needs primary school on Friday, I was a bit choked at the zoom leavers assembly and he was presented with a, lovely story book with pictures of him throughout the years 😭
He's moving up to a special high school in the same academy Trust though.

I could weep. Such a lovely, lovely school. I keep telling myself how lucky we were to go there but it does hurt. I don't want to cry at pick up but I don't really think I have a choice. Last day today for my yr 6 boy. Still have two years left there with younger DS but that's not seeming to console me.....

We were very lucky that ds got his leaving stuff done before pandemic...it is all emotional at the time but after a little bit you hardly remember the school. I walked past the school for the first time in ages. It is bizarre thinking that it is still pootling along with kids that looked up to ours and are now the oldest in their turn.

Now the thought of children leaving secondary at the same time is looming though about three years away if dd gets into sixth form. (Ds does not plan on going)

I have DS in Year 6. Last day is Thursday. Today they are having a disco in school and tomorrow a picnic.

I am taking a half day so I can collect him (and his younger brother) and hope that I don’t cry! Secondary school is a big leap as he has SEN so we are unsure how he will cope at mainstream. Fingers crossed it will go okay.

Still have 3 years of youngest being at primary - but will miss the school when he finishes.

7yo DS is leaving his infant school. He’s been there since nursery school and it’s a lovely, cuddly place so I am feeling sad.

He’s got a leavers party on Wednesday. Leavers lunch on Thursday.

I am lucky though- I’m a governor there so I’ll still get to go there sometimes.

DD is leaving primary school on Friday.

I am going to be a big snotty sobbing embarrassing mess (I'll call it revenge for the toddler years 🤣). We have missed so many of the traditions this year, so many lasts it makes me so sad.

She goes to an amazing school with fantastic staff.

They are having a pizza party today, ice creams tomorrow and a panto on Thursday. Friday is short signing and a sleepover for her 5 closest friends in our back garden.

hugs to all who are feeling wobbly.

penultimate day - day.
DS5's assembly was lovely.
picking up DS6 was absolute carnage again due to partial road closures and vans taking up parking spaces.🤬
I'm so done with that. can't wait to be able to walk to school.
