Cooling mattress protector?

Need one ASAP after last night's ridiculous sweatiness!

Who has one? Any good? I don't want a thick topper as I have a super-comfy memory-foam mattress - just a thin pad or mattress protector. Which are the best ones?

Just buy yourself a large dog cooling mat and pop it under your sheet.

Ha ha, I was also going to say get one for dogs. I bought one at the weekend for a long haired cat who is suffering in the heat and when I got it home I showed it to DP and told him to go buy himself the great dane size.

My little one for cats was £7 from Pets at Home. It's like a gel filled very thin camping mat.

Interesting! Has anyone tried this?! It doesn't shift around during the night - ?

I've just had a look at the pet ones and might get one for my cat! Not sure it's the right texture for me though - I think I'd need a fabric under my sheet rather than something plasticky

I don't think what you're looking for exists yet. Give it time. Full length cooling Mats for beds on their way at some point.

Just get some hot water bottles, fill them up, stick in the freezer and put in your bed for a bit before you go will do the job

To be fair my cat has currently regarded her new mat with the distain that you might expect but I have seen her laying on it a couple of times and I can't force her onto it.

Plus it was only £7. I've paid a lot more than that for beds for them to not use .

I bought one yesterday, the plasticky feel isn't so bad under a fitted sheet - wouldn't want to sleep on it full time but much better than just lying awake and boiling.

Why not buy one for your cat, and when they inevitably turn their nose up at it, you can try it out yourself 😄

For our own bedroom we installed a ceiling fan at the weekend and it is helping a little.

Plus all the upstairs windows and loft hatch are wide open.

We've previously installed pet screens on the upstairs windows to prevent escapes and subsequent injuries to the aforementioned cats.

Oh they do exist! There are loads of toppers and protectors - a lot pricier than the pet ones though, which is why I was hoping for a recommendation!

Already have a fan right next to my bed etc, specifically need something underneath me as the memory foam is starting to feel decidedly fiery at night! I'm seeing this as a preview of night sweats so really need a long-term solution that I can keep on the bed all year.

M&S do sheets/bedding called comfortably cool which are lovely. If I say my cat never ever sleeps on my bed, yet the minute I bought this bedding he installed himself on there and hasn't shifted if I swap the sheets he won't get on the bed so he notices a difference snd he's well, a cat

Watching with interest after lying awake all bloody night baking. I ordered some for my guinea pigs yesterday and will have to stop myself popping them on my pillow instead.

I live in a very hot, humid part of the world and I am menopausal AF. I have invested in a dog cooling mat and put that under my bottom sheet and it’s BLISS!!! (Also soooo much cheaper!) You can get them from department stores and pet stores.

Yeah I need this as menopause and this weather are an evil mix! I have a cooling gel pad in my pillow case which works for the first half of the night then warms up sadly.

Im sure they do exist as a colleague was saying she bought one.

I invested in a wool topper, wool summer duvet and wool pillow last year. It helps marginally In normal weather but doesn’t cut it in heatwaves.

I’ve just been looking at Kuddly cooling blankets, but they’re expensive and the stupid name is putting me off (because I’m hot and tired and perimenopausal).

I’ll look at dog blankets but as a cat person it goes against the grain to consider dog products!

This one has the best of the reviews I could find, so I've splashed out. Will try to remember to report back!

I can live with the Kuddly name, what annoys me more is how they pretend their products are in a sale and are heavily reduced and about to sell out, when they're permanently on offer.

I bought one of their big hoodies before Christmas and it's lovely quality and great for WFH and not having the heating on all the time.

Anyway The Range also have a cooling weighted blanket for about half the price that Kuddly sell theirs for even when it is 'half price', but I've no idea of the quality.
