Anyone else had ill effects from vaccine?

Always been very pro vaccine, was overjoyed when they found one for Covid thinking this is a way out of this mess etc. But actually now I've had a pretty bad experience with both vaccines. So with the first one about six hours in I suddenly got really out of breath, heart and bp up massively compared to normal then for six weeks after was exhausted with headaches and now with the 2nd I've got frigging hives. Like a massive rash everywhere back legs but especially on my hands which are peeling.

I've never had anything like this from a vaccine before. It just seems a bit extreme. My GP says ah you're grand all these reactions mean your immune system is firing and you're safe from Covid but I feel unhappy. Like, I lost six weeks of my life. Is that going to happen every time I have a booster.

Anyone else in the same or similar situation?

I think you're going to find your post deleted-I've been deleted for honestly reporting my 5.5 months of struggling after my second vaccine. I have been treated at a major teaching health system in the US and have some of the best doctors but I've been told I doctor shopped and misinformed by another MN user.

Oh god really?

What helped you and are ok now? I hope so.

My hands are peeling!

As well as having headaches and exhaustion from the first one I also felt out of breath although that decreased after around four weeks.

But, four weeks of feeling out of breath!

I started to worry if I'd got chronic fatigue or something. It was that bad.

Thanks @ILoveYouILoveYouIDo I appreciate that. I guess I'm worried about how this is going to be for me as we move along. I don't really want to have to keep getting boosters if they're going to knock me sideways each time, but also as I'm in the UK pretty much our only see strategy is vaccination. I mean we're not doing anything else. So I feel a bit fucked tbh.

In February I had fever, tachycardia 140s with normal activity and 120 at rest, fatigue, dizziness, congestion, body aches. Negative for covid five times. Then thyroiditis, hypothyroid, elevated inflammatory markers, vasculitis, diabetes and impaired liver function. Now severely elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. I also have two separate rashes on my body. The doctors are either saying it was caused by my second vaccine or I had Covid asymptomatically and the second vaccine pushed my immune system over the edge. Either way my family is fully vaccinated and none of them had any issues but me.

EKGEMS · 20/07/2021 00:41

Forgot to add I've reported my issues online with CDC vaccine injury program and they called and spoke with me last week and are submitting report along the chain

Really? I know so many who have been really ill.

I had to have yellow fever a few years ago for work.

I've NEVER been so unwell in my life, for about a week.

Had two doses of AZ - first one: meh, I've had worse hangovers. 2nd one, slightly sore arm for about 24 hours.

My point is that most vaccines will always have side effects. The greater good is what counts.

penni00 · 20/07/2021 01:11

I had AZ 4 months ago, and am still with side effects. There are a significant number of people like me. Most having prolonged headaches, tingling and numbness issues in various parts of their bodies lasting months.

Kinsters · 20/07/2021 04:45

I had Az yesterday morning and felt awful last night and today - fever, body aches, just really run down. My BIL had a bad headache after his and still get headaches much more frequently than he uses to even though it's been months since his first dose.

SeeYaBeYa · 20/07/2021 07:17

@LadyJaye what greater good though? Looks like the vaccine doesn't stop transmission and as someone generally healthy I dunno if I'd have been unwell for six weeks if I'd caught Covid, but the vaccine certainly made me unwell for six weeks.

@LadyJaye "for the greater good" is all good until it's you or someone you love paying the price. Phrases like that are just emotional blackmail and attempts at brainwashing the masses.

I have been diagnosed with vaccine induced migraine, it was daily for 11 weeks after AZ but is now much improved. But I still have a sensitive head, headaches some days, it hurts inside my head if I talk loudly/shout, slightly wobbly legs, and tingling and vibrations through my body (although neurologist doesn’t think tingling vac related, I think it is) I started tingling after the jab, gained a numb patch on the back of my head after the jab, the tingling/ vibrations have gradually spread to my legs, trunk etc. My immune system may has over responded, gone into overdrive but it seems that the AZ might be more likely to trigger this over responding than other vaccines, I don’t know but I am very shocked by it.

Maggiesfarm · 20/07/2021 12:07

I did just a bit and just for a short while. Nothing I couldn't put up with and better than having Covid.
