Any recommendations for niace hotel preferably with parking? Walkable to uni and or restaurants if possible but not essential.

Pretty much all of the city centre hotels are within walking distance of Newcastle and Northumbria universities, even the Quayside ones although the uphill journey can be a bit of a trial, its a very compact city.

What sort of budget are you wanting?

Ahhh I see, looking up to 150 per night.

Mal Maison looks good but feel it's a bit of a trek, but I don't know the area.

The ones I can think of off the top of my head that have parking are the County Hotel, the Royal Station, and Hotel Indigo. They're all near the train station and are nice enough with different grades of room depending on what you to spend. When DH and I get a night with no DC we sometime go out in town and stay at either Indigo or County, I prefer Indigo as you can get a balcony and we go for dinner and drinks in the Marco Pierre White steakhouse.

I'm trying to think of others that have parking. I think the Sandman Signature does?

To be far, they're all much of a muchness for the city centre ones as most of them are part of a chain anyway. I'd avoid the Maldron Hotel as it can be very noisy if you get a room overlooking the street and the Premier Inn on Newgate Street as it has a lot of hen/stag night guests (but it sounds like that would be too far below your budget anyway).

I work in newcastle and when people visit for conferences we recommend hotel indigo, mal maison or the vermont.

We stayed at The Vermont last week for my daughter's graduation. Great location free parking and stylish bar to drink in!

I live in Newcastle and Mal maison is nice but its a good 20 min( very steep uphill walk) The Vermont close to the train station and castle is really lovely but again a good 15 min walk. The Sandman Signature is probably the closest. Crowne plaza behind the train station is a really nice new hotel( with a fab gin bar) i work next door and it seems to be where a lot of the celebs stay when they are doing music/sports events in the city. Ive seen loads there, inc Simon Cowell so it must be nice. They have a large, underground car park and Uni about 10 mins walk.

Crown plaza behind the station is nice. I've been to the bar and uses to be a member of the gym.

I love the Malmasion! It's a lovely walk along the quayside to city centre!

Crowne Plaza is the best, great hotel. Vermont was disappointing. Sandeman was a bit weird.

Letsnotargue · 19/07/2021 20:39

We stayed in the Malmaison and it was great. Lovely location, designated parking nearby, and the walk up to the city centre was really doable, and it means it’s downhill at the end of the night!

Sandman Signature had very limited parking across the road in front of the Metro. Took us ages to get a space
