3.5 hours no children - what should I do?

I'm on mat leave at the mo, and DH is looking after both DC tomorrow morning. It's last minute to help as DC1's nursery bubble has burst so I don't have anything planned.

I can't think of what to do! I'm always thinking it would be so easy so do xyz if I didn't have the baby in tow but it's all really boring stuff like shopping for the family, which doesn't seem like the best use of a few hours of me time.

With pre planning, I would go to a spa or something similar with a friend but can't think of anyone who won't be at work or have a child with them.

The best I can come up with is get a pedicure and then sit in the park with my book. Or got to Costco without the baby, but I can manage that with the baby when I need to.

Perhaps a swim in an outdoor pool? Seems a bit lonely?

I used to be so good with my own company but since DC I think I've lost the ability to even plan anything!!

Ooh definitely pedicure then a book in the park.

Swim! Definitely swim. Then do something terribly dull but needed such as sort through their clothes...

MinnieMountain · 19/07/2021 16:20

Swim. It’s so much more relaxing by yourself.

Then take your book to a nice cafe nearby.

I'm looking at 3 hrs peace on Friday without dh and 14 yr old dd.
I'm looking at a long shower, nice chocolates I don't have to share, cold cider and my choice of film laid on the sofa on my own without people talking through the film. Simple things! 😁

Maggiesfarm · 19/07/2021 17:49

I'd stay in bed. Any excuse for a lie in (when I was younger, can't sleep so long now).

BendingSpoons · 19/07/2021 17:55

Outdoor pool with a book would get my vote!

FeelingAwfulll · 19/07/2021 18:06

Definitely something that doesn’t involve too much thinking about - I like what a PP said about nice chocolates and something to watch while lounging x

MaggieFS · 19/07/2021 18:20

I'd absolutely love the lie in, lounge and watch something but DH will be in the house with both DC so to avoid getting roped in, I really need to go out, sadly!

I’d go to a nice cafe or restaurant for something to eat. Maybe get a pedicure. Have a mooch round the shops

coodawoodashooda · 19/07/2021 18:42

Id stay at home and enjoy the peace. Although an outdoor pool does sound amazing.

coodawoodashooda · 19/07/2021 19:16

Oh. Then swimming in the outdoor pool followed by a pedicure and coffee.
