Help! Mexican theme dress in 2 days!

I have to find some kind of Mexican theme outfit for a party on Wednesday, I have nothing directly suitable, I have a semi wide rimmed hat but no creativity to think how to adapt it! Help!!

I don't even know what mexican themed means, apart from a stereotypically wide hat. I don't know quite how to word it but I don't think I would personally be dressing up in this theme, its a bit culturally insensitive perhaps, or reducing a country to stereotypes that are designed to trivialise their culture. Does it have to be Mexican themed, could've you not just do tropical beachwear, or mythical creatures or something

Hmmm, I'd be a bit wary of dodgy cultural appropriation (all French people wear stripy tops, berets and onions round their neck or all Mexican's wear sombreros and big moustaches), what about putting your hair up, sticking some flowers in the front, wearing a shawl and going as Frida Kahlo? or wearing green shawl, white top and red skirt like Mexican flag? Wear green and go as a cactus? Personally I hate dress up parties so would just turn up with a bottle of tequila and say I forgot it was fancy dress :-)

Could you do something inspired by Frida Khalo? Maybe look at some of her paintings & use lots of florals?
