School skirt for a tall skinny minny

I've seen lots of wide fit skirts online, but no skinny fit, its for a reception age girl.
Where do you buy yours? It's all much more difficult not being able to try on instore.
Thanks for any tips

M&S. But for a 4 year old, I'd buy a pinafore rather than a skirt if that's an option. Very young children don't have a proper waist and skirts never fit well IMO.

@careerchangeperhaps thanks for the suggestion, out of stock online so I'll try instore.
She did a term in the school nursery and had a few pinafores, but had the same problem with them, she looked like a bag of rags unfortunately as they seem to come up short too Sad She's unbelievably leggy

M&S do longer length skirts so could size down on the waist but still get the length?

Yep, M&S extra long, and size down. Although I'm not sure how much you can size down from a 4...
DS has been in M&S trousers since forever. Occasionally I get fed up of expensive ones, and but supermarket own, but they are awful. I reckon you can go down one age group for long, and 2 age groups for extra long. Make sure they still have elasticated waists.
He's 12, in age 10 extra long school trousers, and is still wearing a couple of age 6-7 shorts - long ones!

M&S long but my skinny minny 6 year old still fits age 3-4 in extra long (and it's down to mid calf (she's not short).

But pinafores are much easier - skirts rotate on their own!

Use leggings for PE until they can successfully tie (and crucially untie) a drawstring waist in joggers. Fake drawstrings are very annoying!

Asda age 3-4 with the adjustable waist hoiked right in fit my skinny girl, she's fairly average height and they are past her knees so might be worth a shot
