What's your dream home/place in the UK?

If money were no object where would you move to in the UK and what would your dream home be like?

I'll go first. I would move to central London and would live in one of those glamorous (is it Georgian?) houses, with a leafy secluded garden, quite dark, completely closed in by trees. I would have a gardener to deal with all my wisteria

I'd like to live in Sandbanks...looks beautiful. Or Jersey

YetAnotherSpartacus · 18/07/2021 11:26

London like you OP.

Or Bakewell (but somewhere in the streets away from the tourists).

I'd also be happy in York.

Manzanilla55 · 18/07/2021 11:27

Muswell Hill. North London.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 18/07/2021 11:29

You wouldn't want to live on Sandbanks today, it's chaos

Mistressofnone · 18/07/2021 11:30

Lake District for me or Yorkshire Dales.. if I could afford a helicopter to fly back and see my family regularly in Essex.

Silkiecats · 18/07/2021 11:34

I would like in the Isles of Scilly on one of the islands like St Martins, Tresco or Bryher and go canoeing every day. If it was Tresco I could just get the helicopter anytime I needed to go to the mainland.

Bythemillpond · 18/07/2021 11:35

Large Chelsea town house or massive sprawling footballers wives mansion in Ascot

Wrotten · 18/07/2021 11:36

Anywhere with a sea view, a large hallway with a sweeping staircase and big dining room.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 18/07/2021 11:39

I'm living in my dream area, New Forest and near the coast, but would like a detached house rather than a semi. We moved here 3 years ago because we love the area, so I'm pretty lucky really!

PartridgeFeather · 18/07/2021 11:40

Ideally I would live up a tree somewhere in North Wales, coming down only to forage. But unfortunately I lack the survival skills and get freaked out by rats.

Blueberrycreampie · 18/07/2021 11:41

Probably somewhere on the West coast of Scotland, eg SW of Glasgow but not sure where yet?

RIPwalter · 18/07/2021 11:42

Snowdonia where I live but I would buy the farmhouse next door and the barn conversion on the other side (as the property originally was) and knock our cottage through into the farmhouse and extend it too.

I've lived in Chelsea and Ascot!

Current dream is Isle of Skye or Mallaig or Glencoe.

MarianneUnfaithful · 18/07/2021 11:45

Herne Hill London, large garden, off street parking, and other homes in a particular spot in the Lakes, and one on the coast. Maybe Aldeburgh. Or Deal.

It's fine...in my dream scenario I have a huge mansion with my own outdoor swimming pool
MartyHart · 18/07/2021 11:48

Northumberland, by the sea

MrsFin · 18/07/2021 11:48

Gower peninsula, somewhere where I could see and walk to the sea.
A garden with a view is a must.

Shoxfordian · 18/07/2021 11:51

Penthouse by the Thames in central London

Wallabyone · 18/07/2021 11:52

I'd have two-one like yours in London for weekend jaunts, and then I'd stay right where I am in Hertfordshire but in a much bigger detached house!

LakieLady · 18/07/2021 12:07

This would do nicely

www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/80124108#/

It's near a very nice pub and has no near neighbours.

Or this one

www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/110385020#/

which has a most unusual lav in one of the bathrooms. So unusual, in fact, that I'm not even sure it's a lavatory.

I don't know wtf I'd do with the tennis courts, though. I'm so bad at tennis, I wouldn't be much worse if I played blindfold.

The forest is a fantastic place, so peaceful but not too far from anything. And I'd have space for lots of dogs.

Imapotato · 18/07/2021 12:10

In one of those big houses on an island in Poole harbour. I’d have my own boat for when I needed to go to the mainland. Perfect!

Chunkymenrock · 18/07/2021 12:11

Anywhere with air conditioning where I could live alone, have my own parking, have peace and no neighbours, and have things delivered without any bother.

jagoda · 18/07/2021 12:13

I live in my dream location of Hove.

I would love a penthouse on the Thames though, and maybe a farmhouse in Northumberland Grin

DinosaurDiana · 18/07/2021 12:15

Close to the edge of a cliff in Cornwall, in a field with no neighbours.

KimMumsnet · 18/07/2021 14:35

Hi, OP. We think your thread might find its dream home in Chat, so we're moving it there now.
