I’m totally out of inspiration!

DS3 will be 10 in September. What might he like for his main present?

He’s into Minecraft, Pokemon, Zelda and similar games. Not particularly sporty or musical, so no obvious other hobbies to call on. Doesn’t like Lego. Has dyslexia so books aren’t an easy option for him.

What might he like? What do your 10 year olds like?

Thank you!

My 10yo enjoys her skateboard and hovercart.

Other recent hits have been a night sky light.

Would he like an echo dot?

BikeRunSki · 17/07/2021 15:58

Minecraft onesie

Primark have minecraft hoodies at the moment (well, they did when I was there about a month ago!). DS is the same age and he is constantly wearing it.

Budget?

I’d ask him without asking him if u know what I mean. I find it easier to ask my DD what she likes as she’s getting older and her preferences are so specific now. Plus she’s grown out of toys and dolls etc so it’s normally something she’s into at the time. Then I get a few things related to that hobby/interest x

My shy 10 year old who likes Minecraft and Pokemon also likes other Japanese things, so she got a cuddly Totoro and a hooded blanket Totoro from the Japanese film My Neighbour Totoro. She also got a selection of random Japanese snacks from the website Tofu Cute. You can either choose things he would like or get a mystery pack which they send in a drawstring bag. She loved these and ordered some more random Japanese snacks with money she got from other people. What does he play Minecraft on? Would he like a different game to play on there?

Skins
Clothes accessories rucksack etc

DD loves Minecraft and there's loads of merchandise available anything you can think of!

Thesearmsofmine · 17/07/2021 18:21

Gravitrax?

Ducksurprise · 17/07/2021 18:21

What platform does he play Minecraft on?

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 17/07/2021 18:22

I Want One Of Those.com does good gaming merch

indecisivewoman81 · 17/07/2021 18:30

Depends on your budget?

My DS is similar and we bought him a joint birthday and Christmas present of a gaming PC.

Insertfunnyname · 17/07/2021 18:33

Amazon Alexa. Can get one that’s £30 and it will play Music and tell jokes, read audiobooks etc.

NiceGerbil · 17/07/2021 19:02

Or a gaming PC better value lasts longer and if you go to right place can upgrade components etc

Also runs cooler which is important

TheNestedIf · 17/07/2021 19:13

I recommend Untitled Goose Game.

Kerbal Space Program is also good, but may be a bit old for him.

Thesearmsofmine · 17/07/2021 19:20

Does he like board games? Mine currently really likes Battleships(the proper old l, no tech version) and Ticket to Ride.

scoobiedoobiedoo · 17/07/2021 19:22

Minecraft Duvet cover, Minecraft Poster, mincraft soft toys, Minecraft books, pokern soft Torsten pokemon Board games, pokemon Miniatures, Pokemon duvet cover, my son has Minecraft clothes, Minecraft switch game, my daughter has a pokeman switch game, she had a pokeman backpack, you can get curtains, pillows, blanket, hats, books, amazon is my friend when it comes to Minectaft and Pokemon.

CinnabarRed · 17/07/2021 19:24

Thank you for some awesome ideas. I think he might really like a Dot or Alexa. He likes music but I’m tone deaf so don’t think to put music on as a matter of course.

Budget is up to £250, so not enough for a gaming laptop - he already has a laptop that he uses for Minecraft but it’s not as high spec as it could be. I might text XH and see if he might like to go halves.

Thank you again.

There are books specifically sold for children with dyslexia, my local library has Harry Potter ones, the font is larger and navy, fewer words per page and larger spaces per word which might make reading more enjoyable.

Etsy is brilliant for minecraft giftsand other random things. DDs favourite present at 10 was an ammonite necklace I got from there, a genuine roman ring and some really old coins.
