Aargh! Ocado has cancelled today's order

Had a text last night to say today's midday order has been cancelled! Website says I should re-book and they've given a £20 voucher but unable to re-book any slot in the next two weeks.

Seems there's a problem at the Erith centre.

All a bit of a nuisance - but not the end of the world I suppose.

There's been a major fire at the warehouse.
I gather no one has been hurt though, thank goodness.

NakedAttraction · 17/07/2021 05:52

I stopped using them when they became so unreliable a few years ago. Have far fewer issues with Waitrose.

Doesn’t help you today I appreciate. But you have my sympathy. Is very annoying when that happens!

Westfacing · 17/07/2021 06:09

I'm glad no one is hurt.

In 16 years I think this is a first for me, so can't complain just have to re-jig eating plans. A good time to eat out of freezer and cupboards!

Yeah, I was trying to check out all day yesterday - there are no slots EVER again when you look at the calendar- no August, September, October so they clearly don't know when the fire will be cleared up and have suspended orders

Seedlipvshendricks · 17/07/2021 06:34

They didn’t even tell me, my order just didn’t arrive last night Angry

CeeceeBloomingdale · 17/07/2021 06:36

Other supermarkets exist

TeachesOfPeaches · 17/07/2021 06:40

If you order on Amazon Fresh now you may still get your order by lunchtime if you're in London.

ArabellaPilkington · 17/07/2021 06:57

Yes I reordered through Amazon but a bit worried now as that is Morrison's and the warehouse in Erith I think covers both!!!!

Egghead68 · 17/07/2021 07:01

Thanks for the warning. I’ve cancelled my Tuesday order and managed to get a Waitrose one for the same slot.

MathsFail · 17/07/2021 07:03

I don't know why but I read the title in Catherine Tates posh voice. "A gooseberry and cinnamon yogurt"

devildeepbluesea · 17/07/2021 07:03

Just go to the supermarket?

SquirmOfEels · 17/07/2021 07:12

Yes, they have suspended all new orders until they have firmer news about getting the Erith hub running again

choosername1234 · 17/07/2021 07:13

I've had major problems with Sainsbury's recently cancelling orders (3 orders in about 8-9 weeks just didn't arrive with no prior warning). So we switched to Morrison's, guess what? Today's order has been cancelled 😡

INeedNewShoes · 17/07/2021 07:15

Argh that is a pain for you OP Sad

I suppose the downside of Ocado's way of operating is that an incident at one of their few warehouses will leave a massive area uncovered.

I'm a big fan of Ocado and have found them to be very reliable and I love their massive range of food as DD and I have a few allergies between us but can find products on Ocado we can both eat.

Hope you get your shopping sorted somehow OP.

SquirmOfEels · 17/07/2021 07:18

I wouldn't have minded if they had just cancelled my order. But no they told me that it was in its way but would be late.

We had to wait in the whole fucking evening, expecting the damned thing to arrive.

I am more cross about the misinformation then I am about the cancellation.

SquirmOfEels · 17/07/2021 07:19

I was able to book Waitrose on Monday, and will use the corner shop if there's anything we completely run out of before then

Mumdiva99 · 17/07/2021 07:26

Omg....First World problems but no ocado for an unspecified period of time!!! I would
have to sit down with a cold flannel!! Yes I am Catherine Tate about my Ocado delivery. I hope you get it sorted......from my experience if you use one of the other supermarkets don't try to buy a full weeks fruit and veg as it won't last.

As someone up thread said...thank goodness no injuries.

Seedlipvshendricks · 17/07/2021 09:50

That’s exactly what happened to me, was told it’d be late but then contacted customer service chat when it hadn’t arrived by 10. I would go to supermarket but recovering from surgery so can’t drive. Luckily Sainsbury’s had a slot.
SquirmOfEels · 17/07/2021 09:58

At the top of the screen I had a message saying some orders had been cancelled and customers had been informed. And by my order, an update saying it was in its way but running late.

They had even texted me at 17:22 telling me it would be 30-60 minutes late. That timing slipped - and I kept getting new times throughout the evening.

I have sympathy for them because of the fire.

But have no sympathy whatsoever for the communications balls up.

If I had been told that my order was not coming, then
a) I wouldn't have been waiting in all sodding evening for it
b) I would have been able to make my fallback shopping plans considerably earlier - possibly getting a Sunday slot somewhere instead of not knowing until today

TheChosenTwo · 17/07/2021 10:03

My ocado driver saved my bacon yesterday - I had slept through my alarm and he woke me up by calling me at 6:30 to tell me I hadn’t heard him knocking on the door!

Sorry to hear about the fire and the cancelled orders, it’s inconvenient but can’t be helped really. I’ve never in 15 years had a cancelled delivery and only once have I ever had a call to say they’d be arriving 20 minutes after my hour slot so no complaints in that department. Plenty when it comes to the decline in quality since the merge with M&S but that’s another matter Grin
