Dp takes the piss out of me for doing this. He thinks it's cute and hilarious. I have to laugh too. I didn't realise it was normal until I had it pointed out

Me and mum aren't close by, so I do it alot. Me and my kids do too. My dd is 17 but will send me selfies whenever she is out.

Ds sends them from his room.

I send them to dp when I am out without him too.

Is he taking selfie’s of him on days out to show them where he’s been or are they random ones of him sitting on the sofa posing?

I don't think that's weird per se. A selfie in a sex shop, that would be weird! Otherwise it's just.... meh.
My DH sends his mum selfies occasionally, eg of an important work event. I've never thought twice about it.

I mean... I find it odd as I don’t think my DH (mid 30’s) has ever even taken a selfie, and neither have I, let alone sent one to our parents, but I still think it’s sweet .
