Period issues

Periods very regular for years and years, approx 25 day cycle and 3/4 day bleed.

Period started just over 2 weeks ago - Wed.
By Monday it had pretty much finished and I didn't put my mooncup in.
Went out to pick ds up and while driving felt a kind of glug - by the time I got to pick up about 10 mins later I had flooded through my jeans, stuffed a load of tissues I had in the car under me till I got home another 15 mins later and they were soaked.
Bled for a day then stopped.
Then had sort of liquid discharge, slightly bloody but not period blood for a few days - mooncup regularly much fuller than during a period.
Then started bleeding again like a proper period last weekend and varied between that and very watered down type blood since then till today.
Mooncup regularly overflowing in short time periods.

So;

  • menopausal symptoms?
  • post covid jab?? Double jabbed, end Mar & early Jun.
  • something more worrying?

I had this at the same age as you. very regular periods but suddenly had a very heavy period for about a month ..it was really on and off. did this for a few cycles and then settled down again. i suspect it is peri but please speak to your gp if you want reassurance!

That sounds very much like perimenopausal menstrual cycle changes to me. Totally normal, but horrible. Mine did similar, but a few years earlier than you.

Speak to your GP if you are concerned though.

Thank you both.
I am going to message the GP if it's still going on next week, I just thought I'd ask MN for opinions (rather than Google!).
I'm slightly surprised that it's just out of nowhere, I thought menopausal symptoms would be more gradual.

It's the fluid that I've found odd, and the volume. I usually have to empty my mooncup every few hours on my heaviest day, but twice a day is enough the rest of the time. But it's filled and then flooded in an hour a few times, but not proper blood, a couple of days it was more tinged pink, and others it has been red but not thick, and now I'm back to proper period blood again.

well you may be lucky and this is the only thing you get! i had heavy periods anyway but when this came on, the heaviness was off the scale, i was emptying mooncup every half hour ......i actually did speak to a gp who wasnt overly concerned .
