Confused
Anyone else trying to do an online Sainsbury’s shop and everything is unavailable?

Yes same here, very unusual for my shop. Will have to see what turns up tomorrow.....

Level75 · 16/07/2021 22:34

My 5-6pm shop turned up at nearly 9pm. Issue with drivers apparently. Wouldn't have been a problem at home but we've just arrived on holiday and this was our big shop. DD ate the free cake left by the holiday home for dinner.

Mollylikestodance · 16/07/2021 22:36

Yes!! Thought it was just me - happened yesterday and even after I'd picked things that were available they turned up with loads of swaps. Very odd.

CovidCorvid · 16/07/2021 22:46

Just been to sainsburys this evening. Fruit and veg seemed ok, definitely some gaps in the fridge aisles. Everything else seemed ok.

AlexaShutUp · 16/07/2021 22:54

Supermarkets here are all low on stock of certain things. Fruit and veg section in our local tesco has been empty for the last couple of weeks.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/07/2021 23:00

We’ve had the same issue too.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 16/07/2021 23:05

When you check out and it identifies the things that are not available and suggests alternatives, you accept them and it doesn't actually add them. It took me 5 goes to get the shopping into any sort of order tonight.

StartingGrid · 16/07/2021 23:07

Whoever is missing broccoli, there's an ongoing shortage due to poor crops!

Cheeseandlobster · 16/07/2021 23:08

Not a single banana or cucumber in my Aldi. And I got the very last Courgettes

PerciphonePuma · 16/07/2021 23:10

It IS Brexit! There's a well documented shortage of lorry drivers and many stuck at ports. Our local McColls has barely any stock at all as most of their drivers are having various issues. Every single food shop in my town has at least partially empty shelves - even the greengrocers! Luckily for them, it's only the packaged cupboard foods

omgthepain · 16/07/2021 23:21

I went to Asda at the weekend and there were lots of gaps in the shelves

One of the mums at school works there she said people are stockpiling stuff again things like pasta, dried and tinned things which is just bizarre

Sanguinesuzy · 16/07/2021 23:22

Yes they did vote for it but will admit it’s due to brexit, will they hell .....Grin
Logistic experts predicted it would happen but what do they know ?

Nsky · 16/07/2021 23:26

I knew it was trouble, got most of of wanted in Aldi, tho hardly any blue cheese, I wanted requefort!
One of my brothers used to work for the eec in Brussels, brexit was a very stupid idea, we gained more than we lost.
Two brothers one in Spain and Italy warned me of all this

isthisouting · 16/07/2021 23:32

So weird I wondered wtf was going on!

AlexaShutUp · 16/07/2021 23:35

Logistic experts predicted it would happen but what do they know?

Yes, I think they called it Project Fear, didn't they? But as you say, nobody will be prepared to admit that there were consequences to their vote. And who needs groceries anyway when we have our sovereignty back?

Smokeahontas · 16/07/2021 23:40

Peak MN. Screenshots of ‘we’re having technical problems’ from the Sainsbury’s website.

‘IT’S NOT, IT’S BREXIT’

RubyJack · 16/07/2021 23:44

Yes, tried tonight and almost everything I normally get is unavailable

AlexaShutUp · 16/07/2021 23:52

‘IT’S NOT, IT’S BREXIT’

Well, it isn't just technical problems, is it? At least, I doubt that's what resulted in the shelves at my local supermarket being bare for the last couple of weeks.

Factor in the reality that we have a shortage of around 100,000 HGV drivers, and it clearly isn't the case that it's just an Internet glitch.

And yes, Brexit might not be the whole story, but it is certainly a significant part of the cause. Whether people want to admit this or not.

We were warned that this would happen and we voted for it. Now we have to live with the consequences of that decision. But it's all OK because my dd now has a shiny blue passport.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 17/07/2021 07:35

It must be at least partly technical issues. I checked out an order last night with maybe a 15 things out of stock. I've just had my email receipt for the delivery, and there's another six substitutions. In three cases I've been given the item I tried to buy last night and was told was out of stock Confused.

warmfluffytowels · 17/07/2021 07:50

I ordered from Morrison's on Wednesday a and got everything I ordered.

The only substitution was chicken and sweetcorn sandwich spread instead of chicken and bacon sandwich spread.

warmfluffytowels · 17/07/2021 07:51

Oh, and Sainsbury's can say whatever they like on their website Hmm

Just because they're saying it's a technical
error, doesn't mean it actually is!

greenzeppelin · 17/07/2021 07:54

I have Sainsbury's and my issue is it lets me order it but then it's not in stock on the day and I'm getting loads of random subs or nothing.

olidora63 · 17/07/2021 07:57

Yes our local Sainsbury’s very low in stock!

MeanMrMustardSeed · 17/07/2021 07:58

Isn’t this because of the warehouse fire I’ve been reading about on another thread?

MeanMrMustardSeed · 17/07/2021 07:59

^to answer my own question, I think that might have been Ocado / Morrison’s, not Sainsbury’s.
