How worried about getting Covid are you right now?

It’s very confusing, cases are rising, teenagers are ignoring pings - anecdotally - people with symptoms aren’t testing. Not sure how worried to be RN. Double jabbed but will it help?

How worried are you?

I’m worried I’ll get it right before something important (live project at work, flight, important events) which would mean missing or cancelling something. This variant is highly contagious so the chances are a bit higher.

I’m not actually worried about getting ill from it, never have been. I’m young, healthy, double jabbed, and I’m not scared about catching it. If I had other conditions which put me more at risk, then I imagine I wouldn’t be so blasé about it.

It also helps that I live in a country where people are still following the rules and we have no ‘freedom day’ coming anytime soon. So I trust it will never get as bad, and those around me will continue being careful for the sake of everyone around them.

About as worried as I have been throughout this pandemic, which is not at all. Or at least about as much as the many other risks I take every day.

I had it in November. I'm CV and have long covid/Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome which isn't fun but it hasn't been utterly debilitating for me. Just unpleasant and tedious. I get PVFS syndrome after even a cold though so I'm used to it. It has lasted longer than usual though. It's normally 3-4 months for me but it hasn't been quite as severe as it is after a cold.

I've had one vaccination. 2nd is due next week.

MissCalamity · 16/07/2021 13:56

I'm more worried missing out on plans/holidays with getting covid, rather than being ill with covid.

2nd jab tomorrow! Smile

I appreciate how illogical this sounds, but anyway -

I’m double vaccinated but pregnant. Not worried much about myself and feel able to assess risk appropriately for the rest of my pregnancy but so, so not looking forward to the inevitable (to my mind) further lockdown come September or so, associated hospital rigmarole, school self-isolation hokey cokey etc. I really hoped we’d be past that point now and I don’t think we are.

moynomore · 16/07/2021 13:58

I'm much more worried than I was this time last year. Like others, only because getting it will mess up a lot of plans coming up. Not worried about getting sick really.

lljkk · 16/07/2021 14:01

I'm beginning to predict that no one I know will ever (knowingly) have caught it, tbh.

EileenGC · 16/07/2021 14:02

In a similar way to @EssentialHummus, I’m much more worried about governments freaking out again at the high number of cases and introducing another lockdown in autumn. That said, it looks like the UK wouldn’t do backtrack that much after lifting all restrictions on Monday. It would be completely stupid and ridiculous to do so.

Hospitalisations and deaths remaining low should prevent more measures come September, though. Fingers crossed.

Bagelsandbrie · 16/07/2021 14:04

I’m worried about how long the immunity from the vaccine lasts. No one seems to know the answer to that yet and I can see a lot of clinically extremely vulnerable people like me suddenly dropping down with it as our immunity has waned and we won’t realise.

MrsRLynde · 16/07/2021 14:05

More worried having heard the latest data on long covid this morning. It's clearly not 'just like 'flu'.

Skybluepinkgiraffe · 16/07/2021 14:06

I'm not worried. I'm expecting to get it at some point despite being fully vaccinated. I'm continuing to be cautious without being obsessive. I hope not to be too ill if/when it comes my way. But I don't believe that worrying will make any difference to the outcome.

AnyFucker · 16/07/2021 14:07

Not one bit

Naaaaah · 16/07/2021 14:08

Not even a bit. I don't spend hours of my day worrying about falling off my bike or getting cancer either though.

CremeEggThief · 16/07/2021 14:11

Honestly I am dreading my 2nd AstraZeneca jab on Sunday more, after having flu like symptoms which I was totally unprepared for last time. I was far more ill from that then when I think I had Covid in early 2020. Gotta be done, but if I'm being honest, I've worried about no. 2 jab since recovering from no.1 jab.

I removed the NHS app from my phone in the Autumn, as I didn't want the hassle of turning it on and off all the time.

CremeEggThief · 16/07/2021 14:14

Oh and I have a diagnosis of CFS/ME for years, (currently feeling well) so basically very similar symptoms to Long Covid anyway.

Justmuddlingalong · 16/07/2021 14:16

I'm not worried. I'm careful, not overly so, but basically just getting on with life.

Wooollffff · 16/07/2021 14:18

I am more worried about getting it and developing long Covid and organ damage, than just dying of it in the short term. I am in my 50s and have been vaccinated. In my London borough only 56% have had the first vaccine.

cheezy · 16/07/2021 14:18

Not worried about getting covid, but worried about a loved one whose cancer treatment may be delayed.

Turkishangora · 16/07/2021 14:21

Not at all worried about covid. Very worried that the climate of fear that prevails with continue to trash society and shatter and decimate mental health even more, very worried about my children's education and subsequent achievement being affected by ongoing restrictions.

overwork · 16/07/2021 14:23

I'm double jabbed and I cute erotic have it. I wouldn't have a clue, I feel completely fine. my partner has had one jab and had cold symptoms, so he had a test which was positive, and I thought I should have one too. Was really surprised it was positive. I'm kind of pleased he had symptoms because it meant we picked it up, hopefully before I started spreading it about!

This.
Iseeyoulookingatme · 16/07/2021 14:28

I'm double jabbed and had a negative result yesterday but I can hear my neighbours coughing next door they have there windows and doors open and it sounds horrible. They have been isolating so definitely have covid. It's worrying me a little bit but I should be fine if I catch it from them.

PurpleDaisies · 16/07/2021 14:29

Getting would mean postponing my second jab which would be inconvenient. I’m not worried about having a bad course of it at all.

MouseholeCat · 16/07/2021 14:30

I'm heading into my third trimester and there's not really much data on delta and pregnancy in vaccinated people, so I'm definitely more worried now than I have been in recent months. I'm more worried about increasing restrictions in hospitals though.

shewalkslikerihanna · 16/07/2021 14:30

I have health conditions. Many friends in my position shielded but I went out and about throughout lockdown

I’ve never worried about it
I refuse to let the fear in
I’m good at bolstering my immune system
However I am fearful about what is happening to our society, the fearfulness, the divisiveness , what is happening worldwide
That one is very hard to shut out even though I haven’t watched the news for two years snd the tv is rarely switched on

Agree with this. I'm more worried about having to isolate in my small flat for a prolonged period.

I do worry about getting it and passing it to my mum and dad though (60s, both double-jabbed) but the reality is they are out and about more than me.
