Hello, I've bought an inflatable hot tub and it seems we really are making human soup

I've set everything up according to the instructions but I don't think the filter is working. How can I tell? Should there be some suction? There is not even a gentle suction or any indication that debris is being filtered out. There are hairs and 'bits' in the water.
I've looked at info on the product website but nothing seems to answer my question! I've sent an email but I may not hear for 48hrs.
Help, please! Should I have filter suction of some description? It's a Wave Atlantic tub.
