Oooo... I think most of your cast is perfect but I can't work out who I would change. Also haven't read them for a million years.
Why has a movie never happened?

YellowBellyCat · 15/07/2021 23:38

Years since I read the books, would love a movie!

Talipesmum · 15/07/2021 23:47

I’m just listening to wideacre for the first time right now, so can’t comment on the second and third books! But I am sure you can’t have Orlando bloom as Harry. Harry is all blond and rosy and innocent looking. Orlando is too elfy pirate!
Maybe young Heath ledger?

I did struggle with Harry,

It was Aiden Turner/Richard that started me thinking

I like to read in reverse order, and I was thinking a young Heath Ledger for Harry would be good

Isn't Heath Ledger too fit/hunky/good looking for Harry? I remember him being a bit soft and baby looking. But I haven't read the books since I was teen so might be wrong.

yeah - he starts off as 'fit and hunky' but 'goes to seed'

Oh that makes sense. I really need to steal my mums copies buy the books and read them again.

Boogiewoody · 21/07/2021 09:37

I can more imagine Aidan Turner aw Ralph, although I do like the Johnny Depp casting.

I thought Jonathan Rhys Myers would be a good Richard. There's an actress called Charlotte Spencer (she was in Sanditon) who would make a great Beatrice. And I like David Tennant for John

Boogiewoody · 21/07/2021 09:41

Maybe Joe Alwyn for Harry ? I thought Alex Pettyfur but he's too hunky

CiaoForNiao · 21/07/2021 09:44

How about Christian Brassington for Harry?
Aiden Turner looks exactly how i imagine Ralph to be.

Actually looking at the cast lost for Poldark I reckon we could use a few of them Grin

Love the idea of David T as John. But to be fair I love the idea of him in anything Grin

IcedSpice · 21/07/2021 10:45

Richard is dark and sparkling and cruel.... I mean come on, could he be anyone apart from Aiden Turner, ohh maybe Ian Somerhalder !!!

So am now on Wideacre, and Celia is a Havering, but what relationship to Perry in the 3 book?

Read these years ago, feeling my age this week.

IcedSpice · 25/07/2021 22:37

On an aside, if you want to know what they wore - The Duchess, 2008, Keira Knightly, Ralph Fiennes, starts in around 1774 ish
