Tell me your stories of difficult house purchasea

Currently trying to buy our dream home we have loved for years, but sure it’s going to fall thru. 2 other buyers already dropped out before us as they felt messed around. Vendor hasn’t issued the estate agent with notice to sell yet or solicitors details despite accepting our offer 4 weeks ago. He isn’t sure where he wants to move.

Any stories of difficult vendors which did/ didn’t work out? How did you play it?

Agreed a sale in the October (some years ago) and it was dragging and dragging on because the vendor couldn't find something they liked. House market was very busy at that time too. May the following year came and they demanded 25k more from us because their house had increased all the while they had been dicking about dragging their feet. I pulled out.

The vendor ended up selling this house a whole year after I pulled out for 40k more than we'd agreed to begin with. Great for them of course but total time wasters.
