Beyond excited as it is just a bloody lovely place to be our first holiday in a few years.
Me, dh and ds 8.
Greenwood park is on our list. Llechwood slate mines, Rhos on sea (absolutely gorgeous place)
We love beaches, outdoors, walks, parks, castles, that kinda thing.

Where have you visited in North Wales that you & your kids loved and would recommend 100% to go to?
Thanks Grin

Bodelwyddan castle is fab

The beaches on Anglesey are nicer than the ones off the A55. I'd recommend lligwy near moelfre, it has a wood fired pizza cafe, coastal walks and a lovely beach. Newborough is a stunning beach but parking is a bit pricey. Rhosneigr is a big open sandy beach

All the castles have to be booked via the Cadw site now. Caernarfon castle ticks all the castle boxes

GalesThisMorning · 15/07/2021 21:03

How old are your kids? Tree top nets in betws y coed is a lot of fun and betws is a lovely little village with good walks, a little train, and good chips

Conwy Castle, RSPB reserve in Conwy nice walk and a nice play area, they have wild ponies. Manorafon farm Park next to Gwrych Castle which is also worth a look. I have been to all of the above places.

Llyn Brenig huge resiviour this is on our list of places to go, so while I can't fully reccomend it looks lovely and I know many people who have been.

Rhos on sea is lovely and lots of small cafes and shops. If you walk around the point, away from the town theres a tiny church on the side of the beach set below the road and at road level there is usually a woman selling ice cream.
Walk around Conwy town, lovely quay, see some fishing boats, lots of seagulls so protect your food. You can walk the castle walls for free, if the kids are old enough to make it, it's very steep in places.
If you go to Llandudno you can ride the cable cars up to the top or the tram. Walk across to West shore from near the tram station though Haulfre gardens.

I grew up in Colwyn Bay!

Llandudno is beautiful. Proper Victorian promenade and a pier. Don't know if the Donkey rides would be back on but worth checking out.

Also go up the Great Orme either walking or on the tram. Views from there will be lovely. And half way up there is a toboggan ride which is ace, and kids and adults alike will love it. It's part of a dry ski slope complex, which is also fun and open all year (but a bit weird in winter I'll admit).

Bodnant Gardens is a bit of a drive inland (in case you want to mix it up between beach trips). It's a National Trust property and the gardens are huge and very pretty.

Some of the beaches along the coast are really lovely. If you don't want to go as far as Llandudno then I would recommend Colwyn Bay. And the resturant there called Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias is lovely for a posher meal out.

Enjoy your holiday!!

Oh and Colwyn Bay zoo is great! Tucked away but lots of great exhibits and a big play park.

imaginethemdragons · 15/07/2021 21:24

Llandudno is an absolute must, been there before, absolutely LOVE it!

Bodnant Gardens.
Betwys y Coed
Woollen Mill at Trefrew
Llanrwst has a lovely ivy covered cafe by the river where you can paddle.
Plas Newydd on Anglesey
And Beaumaris is lovely.

greyspottedgoose · 15/07/2021 22:38

Surf Snowdonia is worth a visit if you don't mind a little drive

MrsDThomas · 16/07/2021 07:15

Betws y coed, take a picnic and walk round Llyn Elsi.

Pili Palas in Menai Bridge. Fab place with enormous butterflies!

Llanberis, ice cream, mooch in the village, lovely waterfall, small castle, dip in the lake.

Newborough beach. Spend the day there and walk through the forest, see the lighthouse.

Tiggles · 16/07/2021 07:30

If you like dogs then down near Llyn Brenig is Sleddog Mynydd where you can ride with a huskydog sled team.

Walk Offas Dyke path south from Prestatyn over the Clwydian Range. Or drive further south to Llandegla forest where there is a mountain biking centre with a loads of great walks and cafe.
