Please recommend a budget coffee pod machine to me

I am toying with the idea but want to see how much it will be used in the family so don't want to spend loads- at least not initially.
I am confused by all the makes/ different pods for different machines. If you buy a certain machine you limit yourself to their pods presumably?

Those who own one should I work backwards from the pods and see what machines use them? I would like something that offers a good variety and decent costs.
Basically I don't know what I am talking about so any tips very welcome!

We had previously a Tassimo and a Nespresso machine. Tassimo was really cheap, less than €50. Nespresso was more expensive but it was much easier to get pods for it, we could order online easily or Aldi also started stocking their own brand that worked in it too.
We got rid of both eventually for eco reasons. ..so much plastic. So we have a Mokka Pot now and a milk frother thingy for when we want to be fancy. Works well for us.

So yes, if buying again I'd buy Nespresso.

We gave a Lavazza Jolie with the milk frothed, it was about £100 on offer .

thanks everyone- very helpful. Good to know that Aldi have compatible pods. Nespresso are doing a summer deal atm- you get the machine for £79 with loads of pods.
