Algarve holiday help PCR test arghh!

Really wishing I hadn’t booked this holiday it’s such a scary faff!

So anyone going to Algarve - we’ve decided we can order PCR tests to the home then drop them at drop boxes. Does anyone know the 72 hour rule and how it works is it 72 hours of flying or landing.

Randox said they can’t tell us when to do the test but for example if we fly Sunday which we do at 6am we can do the test Friday and we’d get the result but midnight on Sat!

I think we could possibly get away with doing it Thursday as we fly so early on Sunday - what do people think?

We’ll book a return test in the Algarve as it seems cheaper out there.

Also we need to book return tests for our kids too as both over the age of 5 and then test them on day 2.

You have to do the test within 72hours of the time you are landing apparently. I know a couple refused a flight back from Faro as they had done it 72 hours of take off. Which if flying on Sunday, means you can do the test on Thursday anytime after your arrival time.

Although my cousin actually got in with just an antigen test so I think it really depends on how vigilant the check in staff are.

Also check wherever your drop box is hasn't changed their opening hours. Our local mail box etc, changed to much shorter days and we got caught out with our randox test drop off.

Yes got to organise my mum’s too she’s flying from a different airport.

Her flight gets in at 8pm on Sunday and we get in at 9am.

So I think she’ll need to do hers on Thursday night and drop to her box first thing Friday

We will do ours during the day Thursday and drop before the box closes
