PGL for teenagers

Would pgl be any good for teenagers? 15 years old and 13.

I would also be going.

Has anyone been with children of this age?

I did one with my 11 year old last year. It was great. We went to the one in Dorset. All families but the majority I would say had kids between 9&13

which centres have you been to that are old Pontins or tents? Are you sure you’re thinking of PGL? They’re mostly old manor houses or converted private schools. The facilities are pretty basic but certainly not camping or staying in an old Pontins hut!

Osmington Bay is an old Pontins.

CherieBabySpliffUp · 15/07/2021 19:08

They were complete dicks about refunding people last year due to Covid so I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
Could you do similar things but as day trips instead?

Osmington bay is old pontins camp and my dcs favourite, Barton hall is also an old pontins camp, boreatton park has tents (which mine actually really liked)

I’m not sure why I’m being accused of trying to post rubbish to make people feel like crap Confused. I have dc who have been to pgl four times and I was trying to be helpful

HasaDigaEebowai · 15/07/2021 19:31

I also have extensive experience of pontins holiday camps (albeit from the 1970s and early 80s) Grin

Little Canada is also ex pontins

MyDcAreMarvel · 15/07/2021 20:02

@irritableshark Someone else has asked if they have sen I asked because my own children have SEN and a couple of them would not be able to go without me. So if you had said yes I would have elaborated more on my own experience. If you had said no then my input would not have been relevant. I don’t think PGL with NT teens and parents would be that great personally.

That's where we went. I got a wonderful deal for our week - half price I think. We had a little wooden cabin, with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and 'lounge area' with a kettle. The food was fine, the activities excellent, the staff really lovely and the weather was wonderful.

I'm reluctant to do it again because we had such a good time.

By which I mean, another site, another week etc might not be so good.

PGL certainly do family holidays now. Have a look on their website. Ive been looking but to send my children alone. Theyve refused.

JY1979 · 18/08/2021 21:42

I work at PGL we offer serval different holidays

Schools

Uniformed groups

Indies

Family's

Schools is the year 6 trips most common teachers supervision PGL support

Uniform group cubs scouts guides that sort of thing

Indies children come alone age groups are
8-10 10-13 13-16 PGL staff look after fully staff is increased.

Family's you come as family have a staff member (groupie) support.

Currently my Center has indies and family's they are separate all tailored to needs and choice.

Personally I love my job and would recommend for all kids at some point staff are passionate on creating great memories x

@irritableshark
If you are still looking for a holiday, have you looked at HF Holidays?
They have family walking holidays. I don't think the brochure dies it justice but they are great for all ages and children under 18 are usually totally free.
