Would you be offended?

Would you be offended if someone (a colleague you maybe see once a month) started talking about their weight loss and without prompting or asking for any advise suggested that you should try said diet?

I’m trying not to be offended but maybe I’m a tad sensitive after having a baby a year ago (have lost the baby weight but I am still rounder than before)

Is it one of those ridiculous MLM diets?

WorraLiberty · 14/07/2021 18:36

It's rude but I wouldn't be offended because I'm not overweight.

I can definitely see how others might be though.

Haha!

She was simply trying to rope you in to buying crap from her

She'll be doing the same with everyone

wildthingsinthenight · 14/07/2021 20:33

Really rude

Mrgrinch · 14/07/2021 20:33

Oh god if she's pushing MLMs then consider your friendship lost.

I have worked with hundreds of women over 25+ years. Someone is always on a diet. I can't tolerate the repetitive discussion/moaning that accompanies said diet and have long since escaped the staff room.

One particular occasion sticks in my craw. Two women bemoaning life on their current diet of choice (while I happily minded my own business) one older than me, a curvaceous glamorous 40 something, the other a young good looking tall solidly built 20 something. They were discussing the upsetting comments that they unfortunately drew from men regarding their size/shape/weight particularly on a night out on the town. They then turned to me and asked me how I dealt with and felt about these type of comments...

Well that fair took the wind out of my sails...

“I’m not remotely interested Sandra but keep banging on about your own weight if you must”

PieceOfString · 14/07/2021 20:55

It's rude. But I wouldn't be upset as I'm not interested in other people's opinions that way. I would notice the rudeness and mark them down in my estimations though.
She's got an agenda to flog stuff though so she's going to be doing a lot of this to a lot of people. Oh dear.
