Has anybody had bleeding before going into labor?

I'm pregnant with my 2nd baby currently 35 weeks. With my first I was practically on due date and stood up from the couch to walk to the kitchen when blood trickled down my legs, I thought it was my waters breaking until I saw the blood. After that the bleeding was enough that I had to keep a pad in, I went over to the hospital with husband and met midwife there. They kept a monitor on babies heart beat and it was perfectly fine, they decided to keep me overnight and at 10pm I was checked and appeared to be 2cm dilated, I was then informed because they didn't know what the cause of bleeding was it would be best to induce me so they broke my waters and put me on the drip to bring on contractions. After baby being born in perfect health and no complications, they still never knew the reason for the bleed. My midwife said it's possible I had a heavy show which is quite rare. I'm wondering if any other mother has had the same thing happen? I'm just so nervous about it happening again. The midwife did say if it happens again chances are I'm just a heavy show. Can't find much information or experiences similar to mine.

I had something similar - to begin with I was told it must have been the show. After I was examined they found I had a cervical erosion. It's a benign change that means that the affected area becomes more sensitive to hormonal changes and prone to bleeding. Had never heard of it but they told me it's common.

A friend had this, huge (and terrifying) bleed just before she went into labour. They never found out the cause and she had a totally normal, healthy birth and baby.

I was 35 weeks when I started to bleed. I stayed in hospital a week and then they induced me.

Yes I had exactly this with my first. Contractions started and with it bleeding. Went to hospital to be checked because of the blood and after the midwife examined me the bleeding got heavier when I stood (a pool on the floor). They didn't know what caused it but it stopped fairly quickly and they kept me in to be monitored and as I was already 3cm. Baby was fine and born healthy 18 hours later.
