Bidet

Does anyone have a bidet, use a bidet, want a bidet?

We're having a new ensuite put in, and I'd love a bidet for when my undercarriage needs freshening but I don't need a whole shower. DH thinks I'm crackers and best friend wonders why I can't use a flannel like normal people .

Thoughts? Recommendations?

We’ve got a bidet. Nobody ever uses it. Not even to wash feet…
My cat likes to sit in it and watch people. I’ll probably not get another bidet when we eventually get round to upgrading our bathroom.

We don't even have a cat, so maybe I'm overthinking the usefulness of it...

Mine has plants in it.

But you should look for a shattaf instead - like a mini shower next to the loo.

I love bidets. So hygienic (provided you clean the bidet in between uses, of course)

peruse · 13/07/2021 17:26

Just get a shattaf?

NothingTraLaLa · 13/07/2021 17:26

I use my bidet for shaving my legs!

Watto1 · 13/07/2021 17:27

We had one in this house when we moved into this house. Got rid of it when we redid the bathroom. It was only used by DD’s Barbies - it made an excellent Barbie swimming pool!

Get a Japanese toilet or a knock off version.
It’s built in to the wc and depending on sophistication, will give you a wash and warm air to dry. Really wish I had put one in , and one day I will. Saves a bit of space .

Am in Italy so yes, got one and yes, use it. Undercarriage, feet, pits, shaving, soaking washing before it goes in the washer. Etc.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/07/2021 17:58

We have a bidet and use it like geamhradh (except for the soaking washing bit). To keep certain areas clean without having to take a full shower several times a day.

schoolsoutforever · 13/07/2021 21:26

I want a bidet (not enough to actually be bothered to have someone install one) but I do love the idea of a useful washing device.

Brigittebidet · 13/07/2021 22:32

Hmmm, not conclusive then. I will think on. We have a couple of weeks to order the bathroom.

Look at a shattaf as pp has mentioned. Little hose shower beside the loo - we just got in in new bathroom and it's great.

MouseholeCat · 14/07/2021 01:59

I have a bidet attachment rather than a standalone bidet. I use it every time I take a dump, it's amazing. Also brilliant for when you're on your period.

Get a bum gun

Justa47 · 14/07/2021 02:10

Bidet

Yes and use.

Maggiesfarm · 14/07/2021 02:16

I would love a bidet, might have one in the future.

BastilleBastille · 14/07/2021 05:29

My mum has one at her house. We both did our bathrooms up at the same time. She went for one - I didn’t. I so regret it now. So handy.
When I had my baby a few months ago it was great for bathing my stitches! Blush

Brigittebidet · 14/07/2021 15:38

The builder has advised against a "bum gun" as it's in the loft and will need to be wet room style to house one of those. So it's bidet or bust.

We've just removed a bidet, it was in an awkward position and I honestly only used it to clean flipflops or the dog's paws. Washcloth better!

chickenyhead · 14/07/2021 15:49

Would love a bidet.

bumpertobumper · 14/07/2021 17:25

I have a bum gun in my newly built loft bathroom and it is not a wet room. There is a possibility of a few splashes in the floor but nothing a standard bathroom can't handle. Was very straightforward for the builders to fit, he is making excuses- probably just hasn't done one before...

bumpertobumper · 14/07/2021 17:27

And other people I now have one in a standard downstairs loo.
They definitely do not have to be in a wet room.
The fancy ones are plumbed with warm water, but I find just cold is fine...
