Any recommendations?

It’s for a big birthday for my sister and she really deserves to go somewhere really bloody lovely for a couple of nights. Ideally somewhere with a really decent restaurant on site so we wouldn’t have to do anything/ go anywhere once we get there.

Voco St David’s in Cardiff? It always had an amazing rep when I lived there and it has a spa?

The Vale Hotel and Spa
Celtic Manor

St Brides Spa in Saundersfoot. Or the spa hotel in Bath.

She actually works at St David’s spa 😂. Sorry, I should’ve said! Bit of a bus mans holiday but she just loves a spa.

Thanks so much for the recommendations I’ll check them out.

Bryn Meadows is a nice spa - it has a mud chamber which is a bit different. Doesn't really have any relaxation rooms but plenty of space to sit around the pool, I like it for a spa days with someone else. No idea what the hotel is like!

Love the vale for a solo spa day. I could lay on those heated waterbeds all day.

Me too! I don’t swim, so I treat myself to a spa day just to nap in peace every now and then. Grin

The Vale Spa looks lovely, looks like it’s mostly open again too. I went to Bath Spa a couple of weeks ago using a voucher I got a couple of Christmas’s ago - only once I got in did i realise everything except the swimming pool was shut due to Covid Sad

There is no other place than Ragdale Hall. I would live there if I could afford it. It’s near Melton Mowbray easily doable from Cardiff.

This place has a really decent restaurant and good spa: the-corran-resort-spa-laugharne.hotelmix.co.uk/ Nice location within walking distance of the beach too.

Haha - I was wondering why it wasn’t mentioned!! That would truly be a bus man’s holiday Grin

I went to the Vale a few weeks ago. It is mostly open. The relaxation room with the proper beds is closed but the one with the water beds is open (I didn't have any problems getting a bed when I wanted one). The sauna upstairs in the spa bit is closed, but the one down by the pool is open. There's a limited list of treatments available and you order lunch rather than the buffet. I was happy enough and certainly didn't feel shortchanged.

Cadbury house, n Somerset?

FreezerBird · 13/07/2021 18:26

Disclaimer: spas are not my thing so I can't judge the quality really, but Nant-ddu Lodge on the road between Brecon and Merthyr is a lovely location and advertises itself as a spa these days.

The Vale resort is absolutely gorgeous! I've never used the spa but I bet it is lovely. I always stay there when I go to Wales and I get a bigger room with a balcony so I can absorb all the green!

It is also real close to a castle!
