Self isolating - How do I get the kids to school?

I've been told to self isolate by track and trace, no leaving the house. But I'm a single parent with two children, so how do I get them to school?

They are 8 and 11. We live a few miles away from school so no one nearby to take them for me, and ExH can't because he's at work.

The 11 year old could get the bus at a push (He is going to from September anyway) but he's never done it on his own before. And there still leaves the problem of the 8 year old, who although goes to the same school, is on a different campus about half a mile from her brother.

Am I allowed to drive them there if I don't get out the car? Usually you're expected to see the 8 year old right to the door but I could ask the school if I could just drop her off in the car park? I don't want to get fined for breaching self isolation!

It's so frustrating, it's the last week and it's not like they're doing anything anyway, but I don't want to risk an unauthorised absence!

Has anyone else dealt with this?

Yes you can drive and not get out the car.

Yep, email the school and arrange to pull up to a door so they can jump out.

My friend just drove her dc and stayed in the car. I can't see what else you could do really.

Yes just drive them and don't get out of the car. I had to do that when my youngest child was isolating. I still had to ferry her elder sibling to clubs/parties etc so she came with me but didn't get out of the car.

Good to hear other people have worked around it. ExH has picked them up this afternoon but it'll have to be me the rest of the week. I might give the 119 service a call and speak to them, the website is freaking me out saying it's legally enforceable. But then so is missing school! Seems I can't win!
