Is this thrush?

Little embarrassed but never had this so here goes.

I'm clean. Shower daily. Not currently having sex. Sti free. I had routine swabs done last year due to heavy periods. All clear.

The last month the outside of my foo has been itchy. Sore. I thought it might be the scented bog roll or my pads from my period. But it's not gone away.

It's a little burny today so I got a mirror. I'm red raw and there's little cuts???

Started using canestan external cream last night but really uncomfortable.

I've never had this. Does it sound like thrush?

Sounds like it, mine flares up if I use different toilet paper, washing detergent or weirdly drink too much milk.

Mine comes and goes but if I stick to the same washing powder and no milk - it's all good!

The joys of womanhood Hmm

Yep!

Mine can happen like that. Especially if I've worn the wrong pair of knickers in very hot weather. If the external cream isn't working I'd go to the chemist and either get the oral tablet or internal creams

It could be lichen sclerosus or vaginititis, I forget which, it's basically papercut minge. There have been lots of threads about it on here if you search.

If it is, you need an antifungal cream.

Anything that upsets your ph can bring it on, even higher blood sugars. More sugars come out in your urine so it causes irritation.

HereWeGoAgain24 · 12/07/2021 13:34

Definitely sounds like it. That's exactly how mine usually starts and I've had it a few times.

I'd drop into a pharmacy and ask for some thrush cream. Trust me, I know it feels embarrassing to you but they have heard everything 100 times over and your ailments will not phase them one bit, they deal with all sorts including sexual health.

Hope it gets better soon OP Smile

Could be thrush esp as itchy, however, if so, the canesten or alt anti fungal cream won't cut it. It may relieve the itch, Ie, the symptom, but thrush is generally much higher up the vagina and you'll need to target the source, so canesten pessary, applied at night, ( with cream to help itch and soreness) or a Fluconazole oral, one off treatment.

Smidgexxx · 12/07/2021 15:31

Thank you I'll get a pessary too.

Aghh could it be my lacy shorts.

It's just horrible isn't it. I've never experienced these little cuts. Ouch.

You used scented toilet roll? Nooooooo

Have you stopped?

LindyLou2020 · 12/07/2021 15:43

@Smidgexxx - have you recently been on any antibiotics?
They often cause thrush - a very common side effect.
I would echo other PPs recommendation of Fluconazole - oral tablet for thrush you can buy otc from a pharmacy.

I've been unwell last week with a sickness bug. Not sure if that's made it worse. Not been ill for a long time other than that.

It was a substitute from asda. Watermelon lol. I have plain now.

I find that a bath with tea tree oil added can be very soothing. You still need the other stuff suggested.
