Velvertiser

Does anyone have the Hotel Chocolate Velvertiser and use anything other that the Hotel Chocolate sachets? We've tried to grate chocolate bars but just makes a massive mess and you only get 3 cups out of 1 bar. Has anyone found any other brand of grated/shaved chocolate that they use instead?

DH uses his daily, with whittards hot choc. Flavours like brûlée, sticky toffee pudding etc.

KeyWorker · 11/07/2021 21:34

Thanks. Is the whittards one powder or actual flakes/grated chocolate?

You can use any powdered HC. I run chocolate through the nutribullet and use that.

Yddraigoldragon · 11/07/2021 21:38

It is powder, always seems to come out really smooth and smells lovely. We get it from Amazon or whittards direct.

I sometimes use flaked from a local chocolate shop but it’s no cheaper

KeyWorker · 11/07/2021 21:43

I’ll look into the Pendragon ones, thanks.

I don’t have a nutribullet but do have a Kenwood food processor with a million attachments. I’ll look if that is suitable for chocolate.

M&S have flaked hot chocolate too (or, at least, they do at Christmas). Otherwise we use Whittards powder and it works well.

FlossyTeacakes · 11/07/2021 22:00

Just use normal hot chocolate. Couple of heaped teaspoons and it comes out very frothy and smooth

Sn0tnose · 12/07/2021 00:42

We use powdered chocolate. The machine says not to put powder in the machine, so we just put the powder in the mug and do the milk in the Velvetiser, before pouring it in mug. It works perfectly.

Another pendragon fan here

ElderMillennial · 12/07/2021 06:49

I have used whittards but it's not as nice as the HC one

Bettys is ok too

I have just ordered charbonnel et Walker one online o try

PennineSpring · 12/07/2021 06:50

Try Callebaut hot chocolate - it’s ground real chocolate. Sounds like it might work in the velvetizer

That looks lovely! 🙄
TheBlessedCheesemaker · 12/07/2021 07:27

FYI Instant coffee come out amazing in a velvetiser (milk in, then press button, then add spoon of coffee)

longwayoff · 12/07/2021 09:06

Charbonnel et Walker is good. Grated chocolate.

SisyphusDad · 12/07/2021 09:59

Second vote for Charbonnel et Walker. Green & Black's hot chocolate powder also makes a good drink.
