Red Kidney Beans -daft question but can I use them for blind baking?

Cannot fathom if this is a Hmm or not

I bought some dried RKB and remembering all the reports on soaking and boiling 10 minutes because of the toxins , I did so.
They were ok but TBH , tinned are just as good and less faff .

I have 2/3 of a bag left
Bear in mind the toxins , can I use them for blind baking pastry ? They'll have a layer of greaseproof paper in between
Then I can re-use them forever
TIA

I'm no expert but I probably would

I can't think of any logical reason but then I think those darned beans must be mighty powerful if I've got to boil them to death before they go into cooking - the pack said to boil then simmer 30 minutes if going into a slow cooker .

Makes me wonder if I really wanted to eat them Grin

I could put them in the oven when I'm cooking other things to bake all the toxins out ?

Yes, I have done many times with no ill effects

Yes you can. Any dried beans, or uncooked rice will do.

I’ve always been curious how people worked out that kidney beans stopped being poisonous if you booed the pants of them for 2 hours.
