DCs have been awake for 2 hours already and I swear to god DS2 (8) has not stopped talking for more than 3 nanoseconds the whole time. And it's all fugler or among us related.

Please grant me the patience to get through today!

I also love my child BUT... mine wanted to sleep in with me and the cat last night. This is a vanishingly rare occurrence so I foolishly said yes, thinking there isn't long before the child would rather eat dirt than share a bed with their mum, cherish the moment blah blah.

Which meant the two of them were spark out, the cat emitting heat like the surface of Mars and the child randomly elbowing me in the face when they subconsciously sensed I might be falling asleep. They were both awake at 6.30, fresh as daisies.

Is it bedtime yet? ALONE.

I currently have Covid. Is it wrong I am appreciating sending dc out of any room I am in???

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 11/07/2021 11:57

I also made the mistake of letting DDs sleep in my bed last night, since DH was away on a weekend night.

I had approximately 3.4mm² of space in a Superking bed. They were sleeping diagonally...

@Aroundtheworldin80moves BrewThanksWineI hear you.

Dd8 has not stopped talking for years. It's like a constant model long interrogation as she asks questions. Doesn't matter if she already knows the answer or already knows I don't know the answer, she'll ask it anyway. I'm pretty sure i could lease her to mi6 to make even the most determined spy crack

thebear1 · 11/07/2021 12:39

DS will not stop talking about Minecraft. I love him but god it's boring. As long as I nod and grunt occasionally he doesn't seem bothered it's a one side conversation.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 11/07/2021 12:45

My dd is CONSTANTLY asking daft questions.

Dd, I love you, but I don't even know my first favourite kind of cutlery so I definitely don't know what my third favourite kind is.

SleepingStandingUp · 11/07/2021 12:51

I lovey children but I just need one night where they all sleep l night long and don't wake up stupid early. Just once in 18 months

You need to practice your 'Interested Face' repertoire. A few different ones to mix it up. Works wonders.

same! 😂

At eight years old, he is able to understand that you do not disturb other people who want to sleep longer than him. Just tell him to be quieter in future.

DS (4) witters constantly about anything and everything, so I do try to engage sometimes but dear god, the kid never draws breath. This morning he wasn’t asking a question, just treating us to more of his never ending monologue on life, and because there was nobody actually in the room with him at the precise moment he decided he needed a response he began wandering the house like a lost soul just repeating his last sentence Confused

Minesril · 11/07/2021 13:23

DS is into Mario atm. I've briefed my siblings that if they want to converse with their nephew they need to know who their favourite Koopaling is.

HadEnoughofOtherThreads · 11/07/2021 13:28

Same this morning! And all day everyday with our two primary aged children outside of school hours.
It’s getting harder to find nicer replacement words for ‘shut up!’

If possible, try to get a lie-in on the weekends if there’s another adult at home or just some ‘me-time’ whenever you can 💐

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 11/07/2021 13:32

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult I hear you. I also get rambling monologues from both DSs then get the third degree on which whatever it is they've been talking about is my favourite, second favourite, least favourite etc. I should be a politician I'm that skilled in answering without actually answering questions about things I know nothing about!

My 9 year old doesn't stop talking and asking questions. It's endless!

ChateauMargaux · 11/07/2021 13:41

I love my children but... I do not want to listen to endless descriptions of what you are doing in your minecraft world with your imaginary friends or hear a blow by blow account of what happened in your book.

I used to be 'forced' to play lego star wars on the Wii.. when I suggested we would play outside, we ended up recreating the plays on the game but outside... that was a low point in my life!!
