We rent a house very long term and are doing a garden makeover as it’s so shabby with no maintenance or upkeep from landlord. We would like to paint the fence, just a brown stain, nothing radical. The back fence is covered on the other side with conifers. Side fence is the neighbours and is very basic, thin fence. If we stain it may go through to their side is my worry. Do we ask their permission? Happy to, just wasn’t sure what the etiquette is.
