what drop off activities do you have for your pre schooler

I WFH and want an activity for my 4 year old. all of them seem to be where you can't leave them and have to stay with them. It would be great to drop off for two hours and get a coffee and laptop out.
Tumble tots and jungle gyms the parents are there.
Playgroups are ok but they are all community set ups and no idea when they are opening again.
thanks for your help

Forest school? Some do short sessions I think.

I’ve not found an activity for non-school age kids that is drop and run. It sounds like maybe you need a half day at a childminder. Or a play cafe that is set up so you can work from a table nearby. Otherwise it’s near impossible to wfh with small children and have dedicated time to concentrate.

Ballet and Gymnastics would often be drop off activities at that age (they are for my 4 yo!)

My 4 year old gets dropped off at ballet.

My 3yo daughter does gymnastics and the parents aren't allowed in. It's only 45 minutes though. Maybe a morning or two at nursery? She'd be entitled to the 15 hours I think (maybe 30 as you're working if you're eligible)

3 yo does gymnastics and swimming where I
Hand them to the instructiors then watch from the cafe/ sidelines.

xyzandabc · 10/07/2021 18:38

A couple of mornings in nursery?

EssentialHummus · 10/07/2021 18:43

Mine does a quite niche language class that is drop-off from 3, but that’s not much use to you. There was an apocryphal drop-off gymnastics class nearby pre-covid, not sure where that’s gotten to now. And there are a few play cafes / drop off soft play etc in my bit of London.

Tbh I think your best bet is asking on a local Facebook group.

Our local YMCA has ballet/gym/art/street dance classes that you can drop and leave, but classes are only 45 minutes.

Tennis you can drop from 3 years old.

Swimming they can go in on their own, but classes are very short.

If you want something regular I'd look for a childminder/nanny/babysitter for a few hours once a week.

Preschool/nursery/childminder. A few sports or dance classes round here are “drop off” but parents just go to their car usually, it’s too short to actually go anywhere. Thirty or forty five minutes of football or ballet is a class. Two hours is really childcare.

I dropped ds at theatre school at 4 he did dance, drama and singing. I think it was only an hour though.

Ballet for an hour on Saturday mornings.
