Does anyone else have to wrestle there toddler to brush their teeth.

I cannot get DD (20months) on board with brushing her teeth, so at the moment I'm wrestling her whole she flails around which isn't ideal. Does anyone else also do this?

I've tried songs, TV, being silly, making noises on each tooth, giving her toothbrushes to play with, role play, brushing my teeth.

Oh gosh yes, you're not alone there! I used to have real battles with my daughter and she still goes through phases of not wanting to do it now (she's now 6).

Do you know what it is she doesn't like about it or is it just because there's no choice and she's a toddler? 😂 My daughter was fussy about which flavour toothpaste she would use. We now use a free app called brush DJ which shows her which teeth to clean and plays music. Might be good for when your daughter is a bit older.

Yes my 20 month old is just the same. Strangely he seems to like using my toothbrush though if he does it himself. He gets very upset if I try to intervene to make him brush properly. I think it is just a stubborn phase he is going through.

It comes and goes but we try to brush at the same time as DD so she sees us doing it to copy and we let her give it a go (she is very independent, no idea where she gets it from 🙄) with the caveat thst at the end we count from 20 down to 0 whilst brushing ourselves. It largely works and, although it's not a full 2 minute job because she mainly just eats the toothpaste when she is "brushing", it's better than nothing, and we'll build on it.

Yep, my DS is 2 and a half and he absolutely hates it. We can get a good brush in the evening when it's two of us but the morning is always play it by ear. He's so grumpy and sensitive atm anyway so sometimes I don't even attempt it.

Gave up when mine reached 15 and dentist commented on her excellent oral hygiene She has the best teeth (knash mine in frustration). She has a sweet tooth. She is blessed.
