With the conclusion of the case against the man who murdered Nicole & Bibaa and the start of the case against the man who murdered Sarah - I’m feeling so so desperately anxious and afraid. So desperately sad - of the world I’m bringing my daughters up in. What can we do - Nicole’s and Bibaa’s mother Rev Mina Smallman is a a tower of strength and grace - of forgiveness. She will not allow her daughter’s murderer to feel any level of power over her - so strong. Just I don’t know sending prayers to everyone to our community of women. We really do stand together.

Wayne Couzens has pleaded guilty.

ICECream821 · 09/07/2021 11:07

I don’t even want to utter their names - the murderer’s names

Sorry, I know it's unpleasant. It will be all over the news for a while I fear, along with upsetting details that are no longer sub judice. Horrid.

NoYOUbekind · 09/07/2021 11:17

It is incredibly hard OP. Incredibly.

I find that tuning into my inner rage helps, as does spending time with other women. But also sometimes you have to impose a self-declared news blackout and that's fine too. Sometimes it's all just too much to engage with.

I have been so moved by the murders of Bibaa and Nicole, their wonderful family and their amazing mother. I saw CCTV of the sisters actually walking into the park with all their picnic bags, so excited and happy and it is truly heartbreaking.

Cannot understand how the monster that killed them was left unchecked. Cannot understand how the victims' family will ever heal after losing two sisters.

No actual point to make here - just wanted to express how I felt.

ICECream821 · 09/07/2021 12:17

Thank you. I think it’s good for me to just have this space to say how I feel. It’s hard to voice it sometimes.

The level of pure hate and revulsion I feel towards these "men" is probably not healthy.
Hopefully, there will be full life terms for both.

There's, very sadly, another young woman taken too soon by a violent man. Her name was Libby Squires, her mother Lisa is campaigning at the moment for a change in the law.
What she's saying is that a man doesn't necessarily go straight from normal behaviour to rape and murder, but starts off with "low level" sexual offences such as indecent exposure, and it escalates from there. She wants these "minor" incidents taken more seriously, with therapy if necessary for the offender.

Another bereaved mother showing absolute class and dignity.

Every woman deserves her own thread absolutely but on this thread where we’ve talked about our shock and sympathy to bereaved families, I just wanted to send sympathy to the family of another woman that has been murdered on her way home, Zara Aleena. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-61925686
Her family’s beautiful tribute to Zara references some of these other women, so it felt appropriate to post this here. Rest in Power.

Wow that tribute has just made me well up 😩
God love all those women, seriously sick of this happening time and time again 😭
