Curious to see the era of my birth so clearly reflected in the language. Among the first words listed are acidhead, Afrocentric and babywipe. Yup, I was born in the 60s!

Even more curious are words that were recent additions to the dictionary (so must have been commonly used) yet are already obsolete:

computernik: a computer enthusiast or expert

Grin

FunnyWonder · 09/07/2021 10:18

This is brill! I'm 1967

Aerobics, cheapo, ego trip, paramedic.

Surprised to see gastric bypass and videoconferencing. I definitely thought these would have been early eighties.

And paramedic was very much an American term back then as I still remember calling them ambulance men (or ambulance drivers!) in the seventies and eighties, certainly where I live anyway. Sadly, no mention of women in those days - at least the term paramedic covers both sexes!

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 09/07/2021 10:27

Duct tape, gender dysmorphia & bralette to name but a few! 1973 Grin
