Definitely go for Magnet, I did mine through Covid last year. So I would recommend going alone (first). Getting a designer you like/is friendly. Someone who knows their job as I was hopeless wig designing anything!! You need someone who can do this. I took the basic measurements of the kitchen with me and started at a basic cupboard.
I got 5 larder cupboards 10 lower cupboards 11 upper cupboards, worktops, larder fridge, extractor and sink for around £10k. I ended up with the most expensive cupboards inthe end. Worktops were one of the cheapest but I really liked it (you can spend 1000s alone here so avoid)
The biggest saving was getting my own fitter in who charged half what Magnets charge. He knew this as he worked for Magnet. He also got a big discount as my cupboards went through him

Hope this helps

Thank you @User6463268578 may I ask what work tops you used in the end? I am thinking of the cheapest laminate on plywood?

Negotiated 20k off Harvey Jones but it still wasn’t great so left them. Benchmarx managed to negotiate in some free appliances and knocked off 5k but it was really cheap to begin with. I used my Benchmarx quote to halve my Wren quote. You only negotiate with Howdens only when you have competing quotes and a trade account in your name - all things I have done now.

If possible don’t get your worktop from Howdens. We managed to get a bigger choice and variety for a quarter of the price (including fitting) from a local company.

We are now talking to local / bespoke kitchen places to get appliance only deals. It’s working out amazing so far - far, far cheaper than John Lewis / AO with longer manufacters guarantees.

I should point out - don’t ignore top end kitchen providers like Devol, Smallbones, Plain English. You can often use them to set a ceiling price on quotes, otherwise even bespoke providers can try to rip you off.

Ozanjk thank you!
