Trigger warning. Is it normal to feel disturbed after medical procedure?

I had an intimate examination Monday by a male consultant.

There was a very pleasant, reassuring and empathetic female nurse as a chaperone.

Everything was dealt with appropriately and I believe everything done was necessary.

But my mind keeps reliving the moment he asked me to squeeze down on his fingers to check my muscle strength. The memory makes me feel exceedingly nauseous and it's 3 days later.

I've had 4 vaginsl births, retained placenta (several HCPs attempted manual removal), my dignity threshold was breached many years ago, but I haven't had any other intimate examination for 13 years.

Is it normal that that request has left me very uneasy?

Will this pass?

That sounds really uncomfortable, and I totally understand why it's playing on your mind.

I think some times it doesnt help when you dont psych yourself up for it because of course you'll be fine, you already lost your dignity etc but 13 years is a big difference between examinations.

I presume you were complaining of a laxity or prolapse or something? Talking about something related to an intimate area, and discussing the problems etc it causes also makes me feel very vulnerable.
