Advice needed for Year 6 Prom DS (if it happens) what shoes?

Sorry first world problem - I've got him a neat little navy suit with waistcoat etc from ebay.

His school shoes are fairly battered and given there's only a couple of weeks left of term I was not planning on replacing them. His only other shoes are stout walking boots and trainers.

I thought I could suggest he wears a T shirt with simple new supermarket trainers to dress the suit down, or something, or get a more formal pair of shoes perhaps but I'm not made of money and given the news it might not even happen.

Can any stylish people advise?

If his feet don't grow fast then I'd say new pair of school shoes.
Even if his feet do grow fast I'd say don't buy anything more than a few £ other than new school shoes as he'd get more wear out of them.

my y11's prom was cancelled

Why can't y6s have a leavers party, by calling it a prom it adds expense and pressure for primary parents just when they are forking out for new uniform.

I would get some converse or Vans inspired shoes from a supermarket.

You could get new school shoes for September in a size bigger, he's unlikely to ruin them in one night of prom so they'd be fine for September

eBay? Then sell on eBay afterwards?

I think it's daft for a kid to be clomping round at a disco in shoes that are too big for him. He needs to be able to enjoy himself. That's the priority.

Also, the shoes he has for secondary might become important to him in a couple of months as he might want to fit in when he starts school.

For year 6 i would have thought trainers would be fine.

Definitely t-shirt and trainers. He will look so cool!

I fully expect it to be cancelled with bubbles bursting right left and centre but just trying to hope for the best etc!

I think I'll get him a haircut and plan on some comfy new trainers or shoes that aren't as battered. I had to get myself dressed up for work after WFH etc and it's a tonic to have an occasion.

@newnortherner111

A primary school leaving do is an "awful event"? What a spiteful comment. Why would you say such a horrible thing?
