Foods / diet to give me a six pack

I work out six days a week, combination of body attack, combat and pump and have dumbbells and kettlebells. I consider myself pretty fit. However, I am probably working out for nothing and need to sort my diet out to try and get abs / good core. What foods have worked best for you if you want to get some definition in?

Low fat, lots of lean protein. Basically, I had to shift all the fat that covered them, so I also did a few months of a calorie deficit diet. Also, non-starchy veg and complex carbs.

A 'shredding' diet is incredibly difficult and hard core: basically, 'clean' protein (lean chicken, lean red meat - steak, rather than processed sausages/bacon), leafy green veg, very low carb, very limited dairy. Most legumes/alliums are out.

It's highly restrictive, expensive and bloody difficult if you have any dietary preferences such as vegetarian etc.

For me it was cutting a lot of carbs and eating high protein and good fats only. The good fats fill you up so you don't feel hungry. Loads of meat, salmon, avocado, eggs, oily fish, leafy veg, nuts, berries, peanut butter, different cheeses. No foods that claim to be fat free as they tend to have artificial sweeteners which cause blood sugar spikes and cravings.
Basically add loads of different veg to your meals to make them interesting! I also used quite a few gluten free and keto recipes as these were low/no carb and found some great new dinners.
I feel loads better since doing this and have definitely toned up.

I doubt that's true.
