Has anyone elses DC done this? Will it be alright? I turned my back for a second and he'd taken a bite of the yellow stuff. Looking for reassurance please

It'll be totally fine - nothing made for toddlers is allowed to be toxic. There must be 1000s of children who have done this, try not to worry!

TuesdayRuby · 08/07/2021 15:50

Will be non-toxic. You’ll see it again tomorrow! Grin

Arsebucket · 08/07/2021 15:50

Rainbow poo!

It’s fine OP. Most children have probably had a sneaky bite. There’s nothing in it that can harm them.

ApolloandDaphne · 08/07/2021 15:52

They all eat play dough at some point. I am sure it is a right of passage! He will be fine.

choosername1234 · 08/07/2021 15:55

Yep, rainbow poo. Totally non toxic

Granohlaa · 08/07/2021 15:55

It’s fine, it’s non toxic.

I regularly catch my DD licking it as it tastes like crisps and olives apparently!

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 08/07/2021 16:00

Playdough is basically flour, water, salt, oil and food colouring. It’s fine!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 08/07/2021 16:01

was it organic?

SavannahLands · 08/07/2021 16:03

If it's the home made Nursery type stuff it's just Flour, Food colouring and water, and the manufactured stuff is quite similar with a bit of preservative added, totally harmless!

GreenCrayon · 08/07/2021 16:07

They will be fine. Personally I'm amazed you made it to 15 months without them eating something suspect. DS had eaten all sorts by then like leaves and cat food, he even tried to eat a slug. Grin

igivein · 08/07/2021 16:16

It's quite impressive the day after they eat the glittery stuff Grin

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 08/07/2021 16:20

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately its not organic. Fetch the MN police!

You turned your back on your toddler for a second? Shame on you! I've a good mind to report you to Social Media Services.

you have let your child down, you've let yourself down and you've let MN down.

tsk tsk

CupOfTPlease · 08/07/2021 16:27

It's fine. I know mine still sneak bits now Hmm.

Threewheeler1 · 08/07/2021 16:29

Weirdly apt name GreenCrayon cos that's what ds2 ate and nursery forgot to tell me. Was seriously concerned about the bright green chunks in his nappy.
See also marble, coins and the end of a leather belt when he grew some teeth.
Playdough is virtually a food stuff in my book Grin

GrinGrin a very apt name indeed.

I agree playdough is practicality food in comparison to what most kids this age eat.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 08/07/2021 16:43

I remember making the lady on the end of the phone laugh when I called NHSDirect as my baby, possibly about the same age as yours, had treated herself to a handful or two of Sudocrem!! She checked and there was nothing to worry about there either!!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 08/07/2021 16:53

I know, I know. Ive phoned MNHQ and reported myself.

Good to know about the sudocream too!

Effinell · 08/07/2021 17:43

I'm jealous you got to 15 months with this not happening mine had eaten playdough, sudocreme and goodness knows what else by then Blush

notacooldad · 08/07/2021 17:44

He'll live!

OldTinHat · 08/07/2021 17:51

And didn't share????!!

They'll be fine. It's when they munch on slugs that you need to worry...!

CurlsLDN · 08/07/2021 17:51

This is so common that they actually address it on their website, and although they warn that it isn't food, they do explain that it's mostly flour, water and salt and nothing toxic

RainbowCrayons · 08/07/2021 17:51

'no yum' was one of my DS's first 2 word sentences after doing this exact thing. Consider it a learning experience for them

Princesspickle777 · 08/07/2021 17:55

Totally fine, it’s a regular occurrence here.
